Marrying the Man in the Dark (Damien and Cherise) novel Chapter 1145

Chapter 1145 Allergies
He pursed his lips and glanced at Lucy, his voice lowering as he offered, "I'll fetch it for you."

Lucy raised her eyelids lightly, dismissing his offer with a wave of her hand as she lifted the hot milk to her lips. "No need."

"I'd rather not engage with those two scoundrels," she muttered, her discomfort evident.

Clearing his throat lightly, he suggested, "How about... I get you another one?"

Lucy shook her head decisively. "Forget it; I'm not particularly hungry anyway."

With a deliberate rise in her voice, she added, "Avoiding sweets isn't such a bad idea; at least I won't be adding excess weight to my frame; it is obvious when seated."

Violet, who had been quietly enjoying her waffles, was caught off guard by Lucy's remark, subconsciously glancing at her midsection...

A pallor washed over the woman's face, prompting her to tighten her abdomen instinctively.

"Let's leave," Lucy declared after finishing her drink, her tone final. "While this restaurant is indeed pleasant, certain individuals seem to have tainted its appeal. We won't be returning."

With that, she rose from her seat and departed, Colin hastily settling the bill before following in her wake.

"She's finally gone!" Violet exclaimed, her irritation evident as she rolled her eyes and pursed her lips. "She's becoming increasingly insufferable!"

"Why were you fond of her before?"

Lennon, unperturbed, calmly lowered his gaze, his voice devoid of emotion as he instructed, "Eat."

His attention drifted to the waffles before him.

The waffles at this establishment were delicately infused with finely crushed peanuts, imparting a subtle flavor that could only be discerned upon consumption.

Unfortunately, there was a woman with a severe peanut allergy, prompting her to experience adverse reactions whenever she consumed peanut-laden foods. These reactions ranged from high fevers and rashes to nonsensical speech, highlighting the severity of her condition.

Meanwhile, as they went outside the restaurant, Lucy patted Colin's shoulder gratefully. "Thank you."

Colin scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Thank me for what?"

"If you hadn't played along with my charade, I would have been utterly embarrassed today."

Stretching lazily, Lucy gazed up at the glaring sun overhead.

Today heralded a sunny debut at her new workplace, and buoyed by the warmth of the sun, she found herself in high spirits on this auspicious occasion.

However…

She quickly shook off those negative thoughts.
