Chapter 1140 Bowl of Oatmeal
"Ahh, I see it now."
Heather experienced a sudden revelation, her eyes widening in astonishment. "So Lennon is getting married to Violet because your bestie tied the knot; he was devastated and opted out of the dating scene; hence, he decided to tie the knot with his little sister?"
Cherise marveled at Heather's imaginative take on the situation.
She offered a helpless smile. "If that's how you want to interpret it..."
"A melodrama indeed... the lives of the affluent are truly complex," Heather remarked.
After concluding the call, Cherise reclined on the bed, her gaze vacant as she stared at the ceiling.
Only earlier that day did she and Lucy finally get employment, and Lucy remained resolute in her resolve to challenge Lennon to get parental custodian over Alexis.
If Lucy were to learn of Lennon's impending marriage... Cherise couldn't predict whether she would react impulsively or absorb the news silently.
Nevertheless, Cherise recognized that Lucy's heart would be shattered to pieces.
Though she often projected strength outwardly, when it came to matters of the heart, Lucy was more delicate than anyone realized.
Cherise's body lay still on the bed, a furrow etched upon her brow as her mind raced with concern for Lucy. She was so engulfed in her thoughts that she failed to notice when Damien gently pushed the bed doors open.
He carefully set down the piping hot bowl of honey oatmeal on the small bedside table.
Merely ten minutes earlier, Cherise had been ravenous for oatmeal, but now she lay upon the bed, completely unaware of his presence, not even catching a hint of the tantalizing aroma of the honey-infused oats.
Taking a seat at the edge of the bed, Damien remarked, "Turns out Mrs. Lenoir wasn't starving after all; she merely wished to tease me."
His tone carried a light-hearted cheerfulness, finally jolting Cherise back from her reverie.
She straightened up her back, and her gaze was piercing as she fixed it upon him. "Is it true that Lennon is marrying Violet?"
Damien hadn't anticipated that her distracted, absent-minded demeanor was due to fretting over this issue.
His brows knitted slightly. "I'll discuss it with you after you've eaten."
