Marrying the Man in the Dark (Damien and Cherise) novel Chapter 1120

Chapter 1120 Wedding Night
His bride still loved another man.

Colin recalled the moment at the wedding when Lucy, her expression cold and resolute, answered the priest's question.

"Lucy, do you take this man to be your husband, to live together in marriage? Will you love, comfort, honor, and keep him in sickness and health for better or worse, for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do."

Her gaze was steady as she spoke those words, and her voice was unwavering.

In that instant, Colin felt his heart stir.

Colin had been sheltered all his life, insulated by the Gray family's wealth and unique status. Every girl he encountered approached him with some ulterior motive.

But not Lucy.

She had no hidden agenda, and she had agreed to a sham marriage purely to help him. To him, she was different from the others.

He could see that Lucy was kind yet fiery, mature yet graceful. Living with her might be interesting.

But just as these feelings began to take root, a man named Lennon had come along and shattered Colin's hopes.

Then again, it made sense.

How could a woman like Lucy not have admirers?

If there was anyone to blame, it was himself for meeting her too late.

With that thought, Colin downed the water in one gulp.

"Are you feeling better now?" the servant asked with an eager smile. "Shall I help you upstairs? Your wife is waiting for you."

Colin frowned, glancing at the servant. He detected a hint of probing in the servant's eyes.

He suddenly remembered that there were originally no servants in his marital home. Given that his marriage to Lucy was a sham, having a servant around would only be inconvenient.

But two days before the wedding, his uncle, Anthony, had insisted on placing this servant there.
