By the time Elder Wynter heard the baby’s cries, he had already slipped away without being seen. While Gadel felt a rush of excitement as he stepped into the palace. Fiorenna lying in bed with a pale face, smiled softly at the tiny basket beside her. When she heard his footsteps, she glanced up and whispered, "Your Majesty, come and see our baby."
Gadel settled beside her and took her delicate hand in his. "Princess Consort, you’ve endured so much," he murmured softly.
"It’s alright, Your Majesty," she responded weakly.
Gadel’s large hand enveloped hers, offering warmth to her cold fingers. His gaze then moved to the basket, where a tiny, wrinkled bundle slept peacefully, and a smile curved his lips.
"We should pick a name for him…" Her gentle voice broke the silence.
His heart skipped a beat. While the king’s father would usually have chosen a name well before the birth, his preoccupation with state affairs meant he hadn’t considered it at all.
Noticing his unease, she reassured him, "You’re so occupied with state affairs. We can decide on a name later."
