Dinner was usually prepared by the housemaids, but tonight, Granny Rebecca was rolling up her sleeves and taking over the kitchen for Cornelia.
She's whipping up two of Cornelia's favorites: Eggs Benedict and baked salmon.
Now, Cornelia could cook these dishes too, but her culinary skills were nowhere near Granny Rebecca's league.
Granny Rebecca’s Eggs Benedict were mouth-wateringly delicious, with a perfect balance of rich and creamy. It's the best Cornelia had ever tasted, and just thinking about it got her drooling.
And then there's the baked salmon. Cornelia couldn't put her finger on what Granny Rebecca's secret technique was, but it always came out crispier and more flavorful than when she tried to make it.
As Cornelia helped out in the kitchen, she couldn't help but ask, "Granny, are you holding out on me? How come my dishes never taste as good as yours even when I follow the same recipe?"
Granny Rebecca chuckled, "It's not just about the recipe, dear. It's years of experience. Plus, you grew up on my cooking. Those flavors are tied to your childhood memories, so no matter when you eat it, it always tastes wonderful. If you like it so much, I can make it for you every day."
Cornelia grinned, "Granny, you don't have to cook for me. Once my cooking skills get better, I'll be the one cooking for you. You just sit back and enjoy."
"All right, I'm looking forward to that," Granny Rebecca said as she started cooking. "And remember, once you have your own kids, your cooking will become the best thing they've ever tasted."
