Chapter 10 

Sally looked at Sandy in disbelief and she didn’t understand why he agreed.. 

“Did he not care about me at all?” Sally thought. 

Mr. Bennett senior was satisfied with Sandy’s attitude and felt he was a suitable man for Lauren. He looked at him, and said with 

a smile, “Take care of Lauren during dancing.” 

Sandy stopped being a playboy but an adult and reliable man in front of Mr. Bennett senior. He smiled at Mr. Bennett senior and then made a gesture of invitation to Lauren. 

Lauren didn’t care who her dance partner was. For her, all she did today was to make her grandfather happy, and after today, she would leave the Bennett family. She had more important things to do. 

Lauren raised her hand but when she was just about to put her hand on Sandy’s palm, he left. 

Immediately, he strode to Sally, who was standing behind Mrs. Bennett and said anxiously, “Do you feel alright?” 

At this moment, Sandy was completely different from his previous attitude. Lauren could feel that this was the true face of Sandy 

Effie. He was really worried about Sally. 

“Hold on. I’ll take you to the hospital now,” Sandy said. Soon he picked Sally up and walked toward the door. When he was passing by Lauren, he didn’t stop and ignored her. Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Bennett also followed Sandy, as well as Darren. 

No one said anything to Lauren, who was supposed to be the main character of this party tonight. Soon half of the Bennett family. 

members were gone. The people present were silent. 

They didn’t know whether they should care about Sally’s situation or they should stay at this party. They quietly looked at Mr. 

Bennett senior’s expression, wanting to figure out who was more important in his heart. 

Facing everyone’s gaze, Mr. Bennett senior did not speak. 

A business tycoon like him, who had experienced ups and downs, would not let people easily see him through. But the 

housekeeper who has been in the Bennett family for decades knew how angry Mr. Bennett senior was now. 

This was a tricky situation.. 

If Mr. Bennett senior kept staying here for Lauren, people might think that Lauren was more important in this family, but they 

might also think that Lauren was indifferent. 

However, if the dinner party was canceled now, it might damage the reputation of Lauren. 

It was known by everyone that today’s dinner was Lauren’s start for her future social life on behalf of the Bennett family. If it 

was temporarily canceled now, all the people would think Lauren was not important in her family. What a dilemma it was! Even Mr. 

Bennett senior didn’t know what he should do now. 

Everyone at the banquet looked at Mr. Bennett senior while secretly observing Lauren, wanting to see what her reaction was. If a common girl encountered this situation, she might cry out because of the pressure. 

But Lauren didn’t even react! 

She was rather calm and there were no other emotions on her face. She was not worried about Sally, and she was not irritated by people’s leaving. She just stood there calmly. 

Mr. Bennett senior was also surprised by Lauren’s reaction. He thought that his granddaughter would be angry, at least there should be some displeasure. But she was very calm. 

“Lauren,” Mr. Bennett senior wanted to ask her what she was thinking, but he didn’t know how to start. But someone asked. “Why are you so indifferent? Your sister is sent to the hospital but you have no reaction at all? You are so cold–blooded!” The 

person who spoke was Sally’s suitor and he was mad at Lauren’s indifference. 

Lauren turned around and looked at the man coldly. She was not angry with his words, but asked him with confusion, “What do you expect me to do?” 

The man said. “Do you have a little sympathy? Sally was in such great pain!” 

Lauren frowned and her calm expression finally changed. She said, “It is just mild neurological stomach pain and it could be easily relieved by taking some medicine. If you are experiencing hair loss, will your friend cries as if you are going to die?” 

The man was speechless.
