“It’s not like I came to this crappy place because that nothing better to do.” Harel sneered. “Hayden told me that your place is small and rundown now, not even close to what it used to bel 

This was her first time visiting since Lily moved. She didn’t even step inside, as the place appeared old and shabby from the outside. 

Hayden had mentioned that it was just a one–bedroom apartment–far more modest than she could have imagined. 

She also couldn’t understand why Lily, having been Xavier’s wite, would choose to divorce and live such a hard life. 

“Work must be tough, huh? I told you not to get a divorce, but you didn’t listen. Now look at you–no car, house, or decent clothes! If others knew, they would think the Joyner family mistreated you 

Hazel criticized Lily as she walked closer. “Now that you’re feeling the hardship, it’s not too late. Come back with me. Just toss everything from this broken box away..” She reached for the box Lily was holding, intending to throw it in the trash. However, Lily pulled her hand away. “I’m not going back” 

“What are you still being stubborn about? Hazel glared at her. “I know you’re upset that your father left Hayden for you to care for, but didn’t you take care of him anyway? “He’s your brether—what’s there to complain about? Now that Hayden is fine, everything worked out well. Everyone’s happy now, yet you insist on making things difficult for us. 

“You’re happy, but I’m not,” Lily said bluntly. 

However, Hazel continued, “You’re unhappy because you didn’t listen. If you hadn’t divorced Xavier, you would be sitting in a big villa eating exotic food right now!” 

The difference was stack. The biting cold wind seemed to pierce Lily’s skin, making her insides ache from the chill. What hurt even more was the scolding from Hazel “Once you’re done talking, leave. I’ll say this one last time–I’m not going back. From now on..just pretend you never had a daughter.” 

After speaking, Lily walked past Harel and into the neighborhood. 

Recently, Hazel had been pestering Lily a lot. Realizing that Lily was stubbornly refusing to retum, she stopped chasing her but began thinking of other ways to handle the 

situation 

They went their separate ways–one getting into a luxury car, the other heading into the Aqua Sonata neighborhood. 

At rush hour, people came and went at the neighborhood entrance, but the cold weather made them hurry, and soon, the spot where Hazel and Lily had stood seemed as though they had never been there 

a toothpick between his lips. He watched Lily enter the neighborhood, spat out the toothpick, and pulled 

Brace stepped out from the shadow of a large tree across the street with a tooth out his phone to make a call. 

“What’s the point of you telling me the neighborhood name? I don’t know which building or unit she’s in. You don’t know? 

“Am I supposed to ask at every door? The security here is bad, but people are alert. By the time I ask around, Lily will probably have heard about it and be on guard. Damn it!” 

Not getting the exact address, he cursed into the phone. But where could he find it?
