Marika only felt sorry for Lily, who had been without a proper status for two years. The moment Sa

Lily nodded, but before she could respond, Maryanne voiced her frustration.“1 don’t get it! You’re divorced, right? So, why is he still clinging to you? You can’t even have a meal in peace without him showing up to make things difficult? What did he say to you?“. 

Lily felt a rising sense of anxiety. If the conversation continued down this path, her secret–that she hadn’t divorced Xavier—would be exposed. 

She grabbed her phone. “It’s nothing. Thave to head back to work. I’ll leave you to your meal” 

Just as she turned to leave, the slightly ajar door was suddenly pushed open Xavier walked in with deliberate steps, forcing her back into the “Mrs. Fulton, I wasn’t aware we had ever gotten divorced”

The entire room fell into an eerie silence. Terence’s breath hitched as he stood up with his coat in hand, ready to escort Lily. His grip on the coat suddenly tightened, tension visibly rippling through him. 

All eyes turned toward her. Compared to the stunned looks of the Devereux family, Xavier’s gaze was sharper, as it piercing through her lie and demanding an explanation. Judging by the Devereux reaction, he assumed she had lied about their marital status because she couldn’t wait any longer for Terence, 

“Lily…” Maryanne instinctively wanted to step forward, but Marika quickly pulled her back and shook her head discreeth. 

If it turned out that Lily and Xavier were still legally married, her attempt to set Lily up with a new partner would have been a colossal blunder. If the Fulton family decided to hold them accountable, she couldn’t explain herself. 

“Compared to you announcing another woman as Mrs. Fiction, all I did was tell people I got divorced. That’s not unreasonable, is 10?” 

Lily felt her throat tighten under the oppressive atmosphere pressing down on her. 

She took step after step backward, the coat draped over her wrist slipping to the ground, but she didn’t dare stop. Forced into a corner by Xavier’s unyielding approach, her back pressed against the cold wall

From beginning to end, he had never explicitly declared Sarah as Mrs. Fulton His actions had led the media to that assumption, and he had simply chosen not to correct IE

Maryanne, clearly upset, immediately protested. “Stop bullying her! She said you’re divorced because she wants nothing more to do with you!
