Bruce was already long gone, but Lily had jumped from the frying pan into the fire 

Her wrist, which was still sore from Bruce’s grip, was once again seized by Xavier. He was even rougher than Bruce, and he dragged her by the arm toward an empty corner of the

“Xavier, you’re hurting me!” ly’s face was pale from the pain, but she was also flushed with anger. 

Xavier threw her into a secluded corner behind a building. Her body was pressed against the cold wall. This place was sheltered from the wind and also passersby. 

Her breathing was shallow as she watched Xavier pull out a cigarette and light. He was clearly too angry to even speak. 

“Lily, are you going on dates behind my back?” He bit down on his cigarette. It was lit, but he didn’t take a drag. 

“What is it? won’t divorce you, and Terence doesn’t want you, so now you’re so desperate that you would get involved with someone like Bruce?” 

Lily felt that date was really playing a joke on her. In the two years of their marriage, if she wanted to see Xavier, she had to intentionally ask around about his whereabouts. She would secretly create accidental encounters, just to see him for a moment more. 

Now, the more she didn’t want to see him, the more often they crossed paths. Jadeford wasn’t that small, but it wasn’t exactly huge either. 

“The blind date wasn’t my choice,” Lily said, a faint sense of desolation lingering in her expression. “You’re dragging out the divorce, so why would I resort to desperate measures? 

The cigarette between Xavier’s ingresburned slowly. A pile of ash was forming, but he remained perfectly still as he stared at Lily. 

Lily tugged at her leather bag, and her clothes were loose. She looked at him with eyes rimmed in red as she shrank into the corner. “Don’t worry, I won’t cheat on you. I’m scared you’ll make things hard for Hayden, and I’m afraid you won’t let me compete abroad. “You don’t need to keep the under constant surveillance, I can’t escape from your grasp!” 

Her words were like a sharp knife that pierced through his chest and into his heart. It hurt so much that he couldn’t even breathe. His gare gradually lost its iciness and softened with a hint of warmth.

For the first time, Uly felt that speaking the truth could feel so humitating. She didn’t understand why Xavier could openly accuse her, yet reprimand her for making a fuss when she tried to speak up. 

She also couldn’t understand how he could say with such confidence that he was going to spend his entire life fighting her. 

He had said that they would live separate lives. Yet, he still appeared in front of her, criticizing her every move without understanding the full situation. 

“Stop making excuses!” Xavier gradually regained his cold demeanor. 

He was almost tricked by her aggrieved looks as if he was the one who wronged her. 

It was Lily who had accused him of infidelity, and he wanted her to know that she had no right to control their marriage. He was the one who had the last say. 

“Lily, if you dare to get involved with another man, we’ll divorce. But I will tear apart the Joyner family and destroy everything you care for!” Xavier snarled. 

For a moment, he was afraid she might just give up and let everything fall apart
