Chapter 353
Lily quickly pulled her hand back and stopped in her tracks.
“Lily, don’t be mad” Hayden immediately stopped and offered an apologetic explanation. “I know I was wrong to go ahead without telling you.
“I got into another argument with them the other day and accidentally let it slip that you’re divorced. They’re truly worried about you. They wanted to use your birthday as an excuse to see you, smooth things over, and convince you to move back home.”
The real problem wasn’t that Hayden acted without consent. It was his naivety in believing Bobby’s and Hazel’s intentions.
They claimed that they wanted to smooth things over and convince her to move back home. This definitely wasn’t some sudden awakening of familial love from Bobby.
“Lily, trust me! I’ll leave with you if they bring up anything else!” Hayden declared earnestly.
Lily didn’t have the heart to crush his innocence and kindness. “Fine,”
She followed him inside, and a waiter led them to a private room on the third floor
The lights were dazzlingly bright inside the private rooms Hazel was dressed in her extravagant attire, and her face was glowing
Perhaps Hayden’s recovery had brought them joy. Bobby’s mood was unusually pleasant as well Bobby shot Hazel a knowing look as soon as Lily entered.
Hazel smiled as she spoke. “Lily, come sit by me.”
“Lily, sit here.”
Hayden pulled out a chair near the door for her. He was well aware of the tension between Lily and their parents, so he wanted to reassure her. If things took a turn for the worse, sitting by the door would make it easier for her to leave.
Lily set down her bag and sat down without acknowledging Hazel’s invitation.
The water came in with the menu and handed it directly to Bobby, who ordered a few signature dishes that were all his and Hayden’s favorites.
He then passed the menu to Hazel, who added two more dishes to suit her tastes.
“Anything else?” the waiter asked as he took over the mena
Hazel waved her hand and said, “No. That’s it.”
Hayden frowned and spoke up, “It’s Lily’s birthday today. She hasn’t ordered anything yet.”
The waiter immediately placed the menu in front of Lily at his words.
Hazel smiled awlowardly. “Oh, right. Lily, go ahead and order something”
“I’ll have a salad.” Lily casually picked something simple,
The waiter left with the menu, leaving just the four in the private room. The atmosphere instantly grew subtle.
