Her Heart Her Terms (Lily and Xavier) novel Chapter 312

Edith was ready to tell Xavier off. Lily had always cared for him when they were together, but now, with the divorce, he wouldn't even offer her a dime?

She might not have done anything extraordinary, but she had undoubtedly suffered.

Lily lowered her gaze, hiding the emotions in her eyes. "Grandma, if there was still love, you wouldn't need to plead for me."

"Xavier takes after his mother, unable to understand emotions. He simply doesn't know how to love," Edith couldn't help but continue. "I'll teach him a lesson and resolve the Sarah issue. How about that?"

"It's not that he doesn't understand love. He just doesn't love me."

It wouldn't have hurt if Xavier divorced her and married Sarah immediately.

Dragging her into an unfinished marriage while being good to Sarah was the very definition of not loving her. Yet, he used his position to hurt her without hesitation.

Edith responded without missing a beat, "He couldn't possibly love Sarah!"

"Actually, whether he loves Sarah or not doesn't matter to me anymore. At least he hasn't hurt her," Lily said, a touch of self-doubt creeping into her voice.

Talking about love in front of such power and wealth made her feel she was asking for too much. But all she wanted was love from the start, without needing money or status.

Lily had met Xavier only a few times during this time, and each meeting ended sourly.

To him, she was beneath him. He either didn't believe she truly wanted a divorce or suspected something improper between her and Terence.

In Xavier's eyes, the end of their marriage must have been her fault.

Lily felt exhausted. She sighed softly, her voice carrying a trace of pleading. "Grandma, please try to convince him. A divorce would be better for both of us. He can remarry soon, give you a great-grandson, and everyone will be happy."
