Lily didn’t care about her weight. She was focused on Hayden’s condition. Since his illness, he had lost a lot of weight, but after starting treatment with Rowan, he began eating and sleeping regularly, gaining some weight back.
Maryanne glanced at the couch where Hayden was sitting and persisted, “Can’t I just sleep on the couch for one night?”
“The couch is too small even for a child. Don’t you mind? Lily laughed. “Isn’t your big double bed comfortable?”
“But my bed doesn’t have you,” Maryanne said, eyeing Lily’s small apartment, “Why don’t you and Hayden move in with me?”
Her suggestion became more outrageous, and Lily just smiled without responding.
But that didn’t stop her from continuing, “Hayden’s illness isn’t cured, Why did he get discharged? Is it because there’s no more money for treatment?
“If you tell me, I’ll help you. If your parents don’t care about you, I will. You can take care of me when I’m old, but Hayden’s illness can’t be ignored”
