Chapter 273
Timothy temporarily focused on the phone number. After briefly taking the phone, he returned it to Xavier.
Lily’s phone was less than two years old and still looked new. It had a cartoon–themed case and a privacy screen protector.
He had often watched her use this phone, her small hands making it appear much larger when she held it. But now, the phone seemed like a toy in Xavier’s hands, easily manageable with just one hand.
He didn’t have the habit of prying into others‘ private affairs. Still, when he accidentally brushed against the WhatsApp app while putting the phone in his pocket, it logged in automatically.
Because he had been using this phone for a long time, no password or verification was needed, and he was logged in effortlessly.
Several message notifications popped up. They were delayed messages. Even though Lily had already replied and answered a video call from Maryanne on hern
‘new
phone, the messages popped up again on this one..
Xavier took out the phone and opened WhatsApp. Maryanne and the work group were pinned to the top. Following that were various contacts related to her, but his contact was nowhere to be found.
He frowned as if anticipating something. He clicked into the settings to check the blacklists and found his number there.
Before he could do anything, WhatsApp was logged out as it was logged in on another device.
Xavier returned to the app and opened her phone’s contact blacklist. As expected, his number was there.
He casually tossed the phone onto the desk, unwilling to touch the ugly phone anymore.
The office door was knocked on. He pinched the bridge of his nose, adjusted his demeanor, and responded, “Come in.”
Sarah entered, holding the list of the third–round qualifiers for the Avelon Designs Competition. She walked over and placed it in front of him.
“Xavier, the list of third–round qualifiers is out. I haven’t received your reply, and the other judges weren’t very impressed with Lily’s work, so she’s been
eliminated.”
She had never wanted Lily to advance. Since Xavier hadn’t reached out again, she wouldn’t give Lily any special treatment.
“Got it.” he glanced at the list, and indeed, Lily’s name was missing.
He was willing to give Lily anything if she obeyed him, even if she lacked the ability. However, she refused to do so.
Sarah hesitated momentarily, then asked tentatively, “Are you and Lily not back together yet?”
He placed the list aside and interlaced his fingers on the desk, his expression neutral. “That’s not something you should be concerned with. Go find Timothy and have him arrange your work at the company.”
The company had more tasks to handle as the year–end approached, so this was a normal reassignment.
“Alright.” She was delighted. “I’ll go get busy.”
