From afar, Xavier saw Lily approaching. His deep, unwavering gaze focused on her graceful figure as she walked toward the manor. 

The whole Fulton Manor radiated joy except for Lily and Xavier. 

As soon as Lily entered, Emma approached her with a large smile. Emma said, “Mrs. Fulton, come in quickly! I’ve prepared some herbal tea. The beginning of pregnancy can be exhausting, but it’ll help you feel better!” 

“There’s no need,” Lily said softly. She couldn’t bring herself to meet Emma’s eyes. 

She walked into the living room, unable to look at Edith–orrather, the Fulton family. 

“Lily, you’re here!” Edith stood to greet her. “Come, have a seat. Why do you look so unhappy? Are you still mad at Xavier? I’ve already scolded that little brat for

Several pairs of eyes fell on Lily as Edith pulled her to sit on the couch. After a moment of contemplation, Lily took out the medical report from her bag and placed It in front of Edith 

“Edith, Shane, Tamara, I’m not pregnant. I’m sorry. My mother misunderstood, Lily explained. 

The joyful atmosphere of the living room tumed dead silent in an instant. 

Xavier leaned against the wall by the floor–to–ceiling window. He narrowed his eyes at Lily, unable to guess what she was trying to do. 

The smiles on Shane and Tamara’s faces froze. They turned to Xavier in unison, then exchanged suspicious glances with Edith. Lily realized Xavier hadn’t told them she wasn’t pregnant when she saw their reactions. 

In Xavier’s eyes, Lily and Hazel were the same. Their statements were inconsistent, and he couldn’t tell the truth from the lie. So, he could only wait for her to explain. 

At this moment, the medical report was the most solid piece of evidence. 

“Was the pregnancy a joke?” Tamara’s expression darkened first. “Lily, what’s going on with your family?” 

In the end, Lily had to pay for all of Hazel’s mistakes. The words “your family” made Lily’s face redden with shame, too embarrassed to face anyone. 

“Don’t jump to conclusions yet. Didn’t Lily say Hazel misunderstood? Edith said.

Lily took a deep breath and spoke in one go, “Two months ago, I asked Xavier for a divorce. Hazel didn’t agree and found out I had been on birth control pills for the past two years. 

“She secretly switched my pills and thought I was pregnant. But I’m not,” 

She recounted everything from the past two months to them as calmly and as concisely as possible, Only Lily knew what she had to endure in the past two months. Edith’s eyes widened as she glared at Xavier. “Birth control pills? Was this your idea?” 

“yes,” Xavier said and didn’t avoid taking responsibility. “Grandma, the company’s not stable right now. I just want to focus on work for 

now.”
