Chapter 257
Xavier wanted to see Lily and had Timothy call her. Lily wondered if he had expected her to just obediently go over. He probably still thought of her as the same Lily who used to have eyes only for him and revolved her world around him.
“It’s about the competition.” Timothy said hurriedly.
He spared no effort to convince Lily to go over, as Xavier was indeed waiting for her. Timothy wasn’t sure what Xavier’s reason was for wanting to see her. Nordul he know what had happened in the competition.
Lily thought for a moment, and her mind grew calmer and clearer. She was silent for a while before replying to Timothy, “Okay, I’ll head over now. Let him wait
“Alright!” Timothy breathed a sigh of relief upon her agreement, and he returned to Xavier’s office to update him.
“Mrs Fulton said she will come over now, and she asked for you to wait a while.” Timothy said.
Xavier removed his gold–rimmed glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. He looked tired.
Although the confinement at the hotel had only been a day and a night, Xavier hadn’t slept since he pulled an all–nighter at work last night. He looked at his wristwatch and estimated that he should be able to finish up his last document before Lily arrived,
“How did Mrs. Fulton’s competition go, Mr. Fulton?” Timothy recalled his conversation with Lily and felt something was wrong with her tone. “What did you call herover for?”
“The outcome of the competition depends on how her discussion with me goes tonight,” Xavier said. He loosened his tie and suddenly noticed his suit and shirt were wrinkled.
Xavier frowned and set aside his documents, then got up and beaded for the lounge.
“You can go home first,” Xavier said to Timothy
Timothy tell a faint feeling of unease creep into his chest. With Xavier’s attitude, it would seem he was going to try to control Lily again. However, judging by Lily’s tone, it didn’t appear she would allow herself to be manipulated.
Timothy suspected they were mostly going to argue. It was best to disappear first.
Xavier went into the bathroom to have a shower. He then changed into a clean, crisp suit, looking refreshed and confident. He returned to his desk and worked on
his documents while he waited for Lily
In less than five minutes, Terence returned to pick Lily up
Lily reached out and grabbed Terence’s am through her woolen coat for support as she stood up. They then left the restaurant together.
The short path paved with blue–gray bricks from the restaurant to the hotel only had three lampposts. There were few people on the street, and both of them
walked very close together.
It one looked closely, it was clear that either of them maintained a polite distance from each other. From a distance, however, it wasn’t as obvious. They looked like a couple smuggled together, deeply in love.
Terence had booked two rooms under his name, one for Lily and Maryanne.
Maryanne was already fast asleep. Lily splashed cold water on her face after she entered the room and felt a lot more sober.
“Call me if there’s anything I’m just next door,” Terence said. He picked up the coat Lily had dropped and hung it by the entrance, watching her as she came out of
the bathroom
Her fair skin glistened as water droplets slid down from her cheeks to her chin. Several strands of dark hair clung to her rosy cheeks, giving her a delicate and enticing look
