Chapter 248
“Hayden has just finished his food. Let him rest and digest for a bit. Rowan didn’t give up. “Ms. Joyner, I’m just making casual conversation, that’s all.”
His casual conversation felt like a laute stabbing into Lily’s heart.
He said somente who truly loved her wouldn’t mind covering her brother’s medical expenses. Didn’t he just remind her that Xavier didn’t love her?
Lily sat on the chair by the hospital bed. “Dr. Blackwood, I don’t have the energy to talk about relationships right now. All I care about is my brother’s recovery.”
“Let’s say if someone helped you tremendously during your brother’s recovery, would you be so moved that you’d marry that person?” Rowan pressed on and expected her to say yes so he could shout out Xavier’s name.
Lily was speechless. She stared at him ter a few seconds before replying. “No.”
“Yes, Xa-” Rowan’s phone suddenly rang before he could finish his words.

He camed a sour expression that even Lily could tell that he was in a foul mood.
She nervously cooperated with him during the treatment. He didn’t talk to her like he used to during the entire process.
The atmosphere was deathly silent. Moreover, Lily caught him looking at her several times as if he wanted to say something but held back.
She couldn’t help but ask when the treatment ended, “Dr. Blackwood, is there something you want to tell me?”
“No!” Rowan removed his white coat and fled from the ward. He lightly smacked himself on his lips twice once he was outside. “Hold it in! You can’t tell he
