Chapter 246
“How’s Hayden’s condition? Xavier avoided the question entirely.
Rowan responded with an equally irrelevant remark, “Are you upset because of Ms. Joyner?”
Xavier frowned and gripped his wine glass so tightly that his knuckles turned pale. Yet, he seemed oblivious to the cold. “When will the treatment end?–
He felt increasingly aggrieved the more he thought about it. It was probably due to the effect of the alcohol.
Rowan had eamed Xavier quite a lot of money abroad and was called to return by him. He had also asked for a few million dollars in retum from him. Despite all this, Lily still refused to listen to him.
“I’ve met Ms, Joyner a few times now. She’s a decent girl.”
her?”
Xavier frowned and was finally able to engage in a proper conversation. “What’s so decent about h
“She’s loyal, compassionate, and has this tearless energy that drives her forward. She has an unyielding determination.” Rowan had a good impression of Lily. Featless energy? Unyielding determination? Those very traits were what infuriated Xavier. That determination and fearlessness seemed to be directed entirely at
him
“I had a quick chat with her the other day. She’s a designer, right?” Rowan seemed to recall something and asked. “I have an idea that could give you two more chances to interact.”
Xavier lifted his gaze slightly and glanced at him. “What is it?”
Rowan leaned toward him slightly and said, “You can specifically ask her to renovate a property for you, Won’t that give you plenty of opportunities to interact with her?”
Xavier was rendered speechless. What a terrible idea. The property that she renovated at Glenview Villa was a disaster. It remained in disarray up until this day. He hadn’t figured out how to deal with it yet, and the thought alone gave him a headache.
“Are all your properties fully renovated, and you can’t find an unfinished one?” Rowan grinned and clinked his glass against Xavier’s. “You should buy a house. You can claim that it’s yours and have her design it!”
Rowan’s plan was as transparent as it was shameless.
Xavier was sitting so close to him. He felt like the relentless sound of his calculations was deafening. “I don’t need to get close to her.”
“Playing it cool, huh?” Rowan took a sip of his drink and grinned. “You can hold on to that attitude and try not to cry too loudly when Terence wins her over.”
Xavier’s face darkened. He had hoped for a simple drinking companion. However, he didn’t have many friends apart from work and meeting clients.
Timothy was often cursed by women. He was hopeless when it came to relationships. With no one else to turn to, he could only rely on Rowan. However, his mouth was proving too sharp to bear.
‘Rowan, you should learn to say things that actually make sense.”
Rowan grabbed a napkin and wiped the grease off his mouth. “What do you mean? Everything I said is factual!”
“You should probably stick to sharing your facts with Lily.” Xavier hinted at him.
“I’ve never lied to Lily! I’ve been completely transparent about his brother’s condition!”
