Chapter 224
In the Fulton family, Sarah wasn’t even considered a guest,
When the word “outsider” was used, the stark contrast in status between Sarah and Lily became glaringly obvious.
However, Lily couldn’t take any satisfaction in it. She prepared to stand up, but Edith ordered her to stay.
“Lily, you handle it,” Edith said.
Lily pressed her lips together and glanced at Xavier. Before she could gauge his reaction, Xavier made it clear with his actions that he didn’t need her.
He grabbed the medical kit, placed it in front of Sarah, and rolled up his sleeve, extending his hand. “You do it.”
“okay.” Sarah squatted beside him and cleaned the wound with an iodine–soaked cotton swab.
Lily’s gaze remained indifferent, her face calm as she glanced at them momentarily before turning away. “I’ll go help in the kitchen.”
Avoiding them seemed like the best approach for her.
Edith got up to follow her, and as she passed Xavier, she scolded him without concem for Sarah’s presence. “How are you still alive with that wound?”
Xavier was left speechless. He didn’t mind the harsh words–she was his grandmother, after all.
His gaze shifted to Lily entering the ldtchen. She wouldn’t dare confront him, only sulking silently in the background.
“Xavier, Grandma still doesn’t like me much, are you sure we should stay for lunch? Sarah had finished treating his wound, packed away the medical lit, and now turned to ask Xavier for confinnation.
She had been careful lately, avoiding provoking Lily. But Xavier had been the one to make moves, like arranging that dinner together. And now, bringing her to the Fulton Manor.
She knew today was meant to be a family gathering. Xavier must have planned it so the family would be ready to accept her, so he wasn’t bothered by the rumors and brought her along,
“Of course,” Xavier replied firmly. After briefly pausing, he added, “Did you bring the contract with Mr. Mckay?”
Sarah nodded. “Yes, I did.”
“Good. Later, explain the details of the collaboration to my mother.”
Bringing Sarah here was partly to annoy Lily. But it also happened to be a good opportunity to handle some work matters. Xavier had a sense of propriety and didn’t act reddessly except when it came to Lily.
Half an hour later, Tamara and Shane returned, and the meal officially began.
The atmosphere at the dining table was somewhat tense. Shane exchanged a glance with Edith, wondering how Sarah had ended up here.
