Serene picked up the porcelain bowl from the table. "Alex, I made you some ginger tea. It'll help warm you up. You should drink it while it's hot."

"Did you add any honey?" Alex turned to Serene, his tone cool.

Honey?

Serene paused, puzzled.

Alex usually despised the taste of honey. Why the sudden change?

"No, there isn't any honey," Serene replied. "If you'd like, I can take it to the kitchen and add some for you."

"Alright," Alex nodded.

Seeing his response, Serene quickly whisked the ginger tea back to the kitchen.

Moments later, she returned, holding the bowl carefully. "Be careful, it's hot," she warned.

Alex took the porcelain bowl and drank it all in one go, then turned and headed upstairs.

Watching his retreating figure, Serene felt her eyes well up a little.

Ten years.

She had known Alex for ten years.

This was the first time Alex had tasted something she prepared. In the past, he always maintained the same indifferent expression towards her.

Alex drinking her ginger tea filled Serene with joy. She left the Peterson Manor with a smile still lingering on her face, immediately reaching for her phone to share the news with her best friend.
