A few folks were shooting the breeze when Albert finally spilled the beans on why he was there today. The Macclain family wanted to set up a studio for Carmella and they were hoping Jason could chip in with a few tips. They even planned to use Old Mr. Quintin's reputation to help spread the word.
It was Carmella's idea to set up the studio. She didn't want to tie the knot early like Simone suggested. Instead, she wanted to establish her own business while she still had the Macclain family’s support. That way, she could secure her position in the family and keep Estelle under her thumb.
Carmella played it humble, apologizing sincerely, "I messed up before. I hope you can cut me some slack since I was young and stupid."
Jason was ice cold, saying, "As long as you don’t bring it up, we've let it go."
Carmella got the hint that Jason was calling her out for repeatedly mentioning her plagiarism and smearing Estelle. She awkwardly thanked him, "Thank you, Mr. Jason. I hope you can help me out more in the future."
"You don't have to thank me now. I might not be holding onto it, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna help you!" He was downright icy.
Carmella was taken aback, shooting an awkward glance at Albert.
Albert was familiar with Jason's character. He didn't expect Jason to jump on board with helping Carmella today. He brought Carmella here just to make an impression on Old Mr. Quintin.
The first time might be a no-go. But by the second or third time, they might be more willing.
A few more words were exchanged, but Jason was still frosty. Carmella was on pins and needles and Albert decided it was high time to split.
Carmella looked towards the side door, but there was no sign of KING. She was a bit bummed, but she had no choice but to leave with Albert.
They exited through the front door and were guided through the yard by a servant.
As they were leaving, Carmella couldn't help but sneak a peek at the backyard.
Old Mr. Quintin's backyard was filled with all kinds of flowers and trees, their faint scent lingering even in the winter. At that moment, a girl stood under one of the trees.
Could that be KING?
Was KING that young?
Jason was pretty young too. She knew that Old Mr. Quintin's disciples were not ranked by age.
Carmella couldn't help but take a second look, but she only saw the girl’s back. For some reason, she seemed familiar.
