Old Mr. Jarvis nodded, "Then you two go have fun. I'm going to take a nap for an hour, and after that, Jonathan can join me for a game of chess."
"Sure!" Jonathan replied with a light smile.
After Old Mr. Jarvis went off for his nap, Estelle and Jonathan headed to the backyard.
Holding Estelle's hand, Jonathan's narrow eyes sparkled in the afternoon sun with tenderness. "Ella, we're finally getting married!"
It was only after both families had met that the wedding seemed to be set in stone, giving him a sense of relief.
Estelle, with her delicate features and clear smile, teased, "What wedding gift have you prepared for me? It's not another house, is it?"
"Oh yes, lots and lots of houses!" Jonathan lifted her in his arms and planted a kiss on her cheek. "So you'll always feel the thrill of something new."
Estelle blushed, whispering, "I'm not fickle. I only have eyes for Villa del Sol."
Jonathan raised an eyebrow, "That comment makes me wonder if your initial interest in me was all about Villa del Sol!"
"Of course, it was. What did you think?" Estelle smirked.
Frowning slightly, Jonathan asked, "And what about me?"
Hugging him, Estelle rested her head on his shoulder. "You're part of Villa del Sol. Without you, there would be no Villa del Sol, right?"
That made Jonathan relax instantly, turning to kiss her cheek. "So greedy, wanting me, happiness, and the house."
Estelle recalled a question he had once asked her and couldn't help but laugh. "A target I've set my sights on never escapes."
"Am I the longest shot you've ever taken?" Jonathan inquired.
With proud expression, Estelle replied, "A sure win!"
