Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 1816

On the other side of the room, Carson knocked back his second glass of bourbon, while Charlie sat beside him, a sly smile curling on his lips. "What's up, buddy? Rough talk with Marina?"

Carson smirked back, "Nah, just in high spirits."

Charlie gave him a knowing look. "Happy about calling off the engagement, huh?"

"Of course, I'm thrilled! Free as a bird again!" Carson glanced at Charlie. "Watching you guys get all worked up over love, I'd rather be free and live alone."

They clinked glasses. "You got that right. Your kind of guy would rather drown at sea than come ashore and wreck havoc!"

Carson replied with a hint of sarcasm, "It used to be 'our kind of guy,' but now that you've made landfall, it turned to be “you kind of guy”. You change your mind faster than a page in a book!"

Charlie's laugh was elegant and carefree. "You just can't appreciate the joy of solid ground, Carson. The sea is where you belong."

Carson raised an eyebrow at him. "Why do I get the feeling you're doing this on purpose?"

Charlie threw back his head and laughed heartily.

A few waitstaff came by to serve drinks. Cindy, knowing Marina was around, didn't dare get too close to Carson. She hung back, listening to their banter, and shot Carson a glance that sparkled with interest.

In a short while, Carson had polished off a whole bottle. His tolerance was fine, but his stomach was churning.

After some more chat with Charlie, he stood up and headed for the restroom outside the private room.

He lingered in the restroom for a bit, and when he came out, he didn't go back to the private room right away. Instead, he leaned against the wall and lit up a cigarette.

Halfway through his smoke, someone approached. "Mr. Foster, are you feeling alright?" a gentle voice asked.

Carson looked up to see Cindy in the dim light, concern etched on her face, holding a glass of warm milk. "I noticed you guys were drinking a lot in the private room. I know your stomach can be sensitive, and you often feel pain after drinking too much. So, I brought you some warm milk. It should help."

Resting casually against the wall, his handsome face wore a polite smile that was exceptionally charming.
