"Why did you accept these items without asking me?" Emily's eyes welled up with tears as she asked, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Mr. James said not to tell you, I thought I was doing a good thing." Ms. Simmons stammered.
"Mr. James? You just believe what they say? These gifts aren't from Charlie, do you know that?" Emily snapped.
"Oh my God!" Ms. Simmons gasped in shock, "If they’re not from Mr. James, then who sent them?"
Emily gathered all the items and gestured for Ms. Simmons to help her carry them outside.
Just as they reached the door, the doorbell rang. Ms. Simmons opened the door to find Estelle and Magdalen.
"Emily!" Magdalen greeted her cheerfully. But upon seeing Emily's pale face and the items in her hands, her smile faded, "What happened?"
"I'm going to throw these things away, I'll tell you later!" Emily said.
Magdalen glanced at the luxury items and held out a hand to stop her, "Why throw them away? Are they from Charlie?"
"No!" Emily shook her head, took a deep breath, temporarily set down the items, and then let them into the house.
When they entered the living room, Ms. Simmons fetched bottles of water for Magdalen and Estelle, then she took Kya to the bedroom.
Emily gave them a brief overview of the situation.
Magdalen scoffed, "This is a premeditated trap. They’ve taken photos of the gift. It’s useless to throw them away now."
Emily frowned, "I know it's useless, but I can't keep them either. It's better to throw them away now!"
Estelle's gaze was sharp as she said calmly, "For now, Horizon Enterprises seems to be the prime suspect."
