Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 1584

The next day, at the James Building.

Emily clocked in on time. As the elevator doors slid open, Charlie stood inside.

His face was as usual, only his gaze towards her was noticeably cold.

Once she stepped into the elevator, Emily positioned herself as far away from him as possible.

Neither of them spoke. The atmosphere in the lift was icy, as if it could freeze one's breath.

The elevator stopped at the 39th floor. Emily stepped aside, slightly lowering her head, respectfully waiting for Charlie to exit first.

Charlie’s gaze swept over her as he strode out.

Emily held her breath unconsciously, letting it out only when he was well out of sight.

Once at work, Emily was busy all day, making a report to Charlie about the day's schedule in between.

Gavin was in Charlie's office when Emily walked in. As usual, he greeted her with a smile, "Good morning, Ms. Emily."

Emily returned his greeting with a faint smile, "Good morning, Mr. Gavin."

"By the way," Gavin laughed, "Someone sent me a set of women's cosmetics and delivered it to the company. I don’t have a girlfriend, so I thought I'd have someone bring it up for you later."

Emily was going to decline, but changed her mind and accepted, "Thank you, I'll treat you to a meal."

"Sounds good!" Gavin said with a smile.

Charlie looked up at the two of them, his gaze indifferent. He remained silent.

Emily finished her report and left. Gavin watched her retreating figure, chuckling, "Ms. Emily seems to be in a good mood today."

Charlie's expression was somber. He looked up and said flatly, "Please behave professionally at work."

Gavin was taken aback, "I’ve always talked to her like this. Why are you suddenly so uptight?"

"Stop joking around with her so much," Charlie said, his face expressionless.

Gavin raised an eyebrow, sensing that something was off with Charlie, "You seem cranky this morning. Didn't you get enough sleep last night?"
