The little angel in the center of the screen didn’t seem to care whether she believed him or not; he just stood there, motionless.
After a while, the screen flickered and returned to normal.
Eileen frowned deeply.
She still had questions for her… mentor? Cousin?
Whatever he was! That weirdo!
But he’d vanished faster than a rabbit.
What, was he worried she’d catch him in a lie if he hung around too long?
And he wanted to act like they were family? As if she’d fall for that!
Ophelia, meanwhile, finally let out a breath and adopted a serious tone. “We can’t just let this go. Bring in the tech team! Eileen, your phone needs to be dealt with. If you keep using it with zero security and someone hacks it again, what if—well, what if something private gets leaked?”
Eileen was about to protest that her phone was fine, but Ophelia’s words made her suspicious. “Leaked what, exactly?”
Ophelia clicked her tongue. “You know—those kinds of things.”
Eileen blinked. “What things?”
Ophelia glanced around at the others in the conference room, then leaned in and whispered, “Nude photos.”
Eileen’s eyes went wide as saucers.
Ophelia continued, “You and Egbert—have you ever taken any… photos, or videos, you know, in bed?”
Eileen nearly had a heart attack. She practically shouted, “Of course not!”
Ophelia was taken aback.
The head of business and the manager from sales glanced over. “Ophelia, Eileen, is everything alright?”
Ophelia waved them off, then whispered again to Eileen, “Really, not even once?”
Eileen’s cheeks flushed bright red. “No! Absolutely not!”
Ophelia shrugged. “Alright, alright, just making sure. I worry about young people these days and their… hobbies. You wouldn’t believe how many scandals the company has to deal with every year—ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends blackmailing our artists with this kind of stuff. Costs a fortune to keep it quiet.”
Eileen huffed. “I’m not that kind of person!”
Ophelia gave her a look. “You sure look like you could be.”
Eileen was fuming.
Ophelia waved her hand dismissively. “Okay, okay, enough. Back to the meeting! But seriously, keep an eye on your phone.”
The meeting dragged on until nearly four in the afternoon. By the time it ended, they’d shortlisted two films, but the final decision still needed further discussion.
As people were packing up, the head of business asked for Eileen’s WhatsApp. “Let’s make a group chat,” she said. “That way, we can update each other if anything comes up.”
Eileen nodded and added her on WhatsApp.
As soon as she did, she was pulled into a new group.
She barely had time to notice before a message popped up in the middle of her screen:
Finance Dept. – Will: [Just heard some gossip—Eileen’s phone got hacked by her hater.]
Logistics – Jude: [Hahaha, really? Serves her right! Finally, some payback!]
Talent – Dahlia: [Jude, do you have some kind of grudge against Eileen?]
Dance – Tabitha: [@Talent Dahlia, he’s been hoarding all the company’s artist merch to resell. Everyone else’s stuff sells, except Eileen’s. Worse, her popularity is actually rising, so Jude kept buying more, thinking he’d hit the jackpot next time. Now he’s sitting on thousands of dollars’ worth of Eileen’s merch—hasn’t sold a single piece. His girlfriend found out and wants to break up.]
Logistics – Jude: [Did you have to air all my dirty laundry?!]
Talent – Dahlia: [That’s rough. Eileen really is bad for business.]
Logistics – Jude: [I even tried infiltrating her fan group to sell the stuff. Claimed I was an insider, had all kinds of exclusive merch—her fans told me it was bad luck and begged me to stop, told me to find a less cursed side hustle.]
Logistics – Jude: [Anyway, no matter what, her phone getting hacked is good news! Red envelope to celebrate! [$99 cash gift]]
