“Why did Mr. Sanders only kill the overlord of Celestial Palace's Ninth Hall, and not you?” Jared curiously asked.
“The overlord of Celestial Palace's Ninth Hall was quite a chatterbox, claiming he would beat your hidden expert until they were left in a sorry state. That was what upset Mr. Sanders, leading him to take action against him.”
Tennyson spoke truthfully.
Upon hearing this, Jared couldn't help but laugh. It seemed that Arthur also had a bit of a temper.
“Are you truly loyal, or are you simply cowed by Mr. Sanders' authority?” Jared asked.
“Truly, I'm sincere in my intentions. I hope you can grant me an opportunity to prove my worth, Mr. Chance!”
Tennyson hurriedly expressed his loyalty.
“Isn't it true that you celestials are extremely proud, looking down on other races? Your submission to me now... Doesn't it contradict the spirit of your race?” Jared asked.
“Ah...” Tennyson gave an awkward smile. “What celestials? It's nothing more than self-deception. How is our bloodline any nobler than other races? Rather, it was the various rules of the celestials that hindered our progress. In order to enhance my strength, I secretly merged with the beast race's bloodline. I couldn't just limit myself to standing still! If it weren't for those ridiculous rules, my son, Octavion, would probably have been married by now. There would have been no need for him to end up in such a tragic state!”
Tennyson was reminded of Octavion, feeling deeply remorseful. All this trouble was stirred up by the celestials' rules.
“Right now, I'm not as strong as you. Are you sure you want to follow me?”
Jared looked toward Tennyson and questioned again.
Tennyson responded, “I am certain that you will eventually rule over the Ethereal Realm, Mr. Chance. After all, you are a prodigy, blessed with extraordinary talents and abilities that surpass the ordinary. You constantly strive for improvement, day in and day out—”
Upon hearing this, Jared immediately waved his hand to interrupt Tennyson. “All right. Enough with the flattery,” he said, “Just admit you're scared of dying. But since you've chosen to follow me, you're now my underling. I can't just let you contribute all these resources without giving something in return. Let me give you a gift!”
“What is it?” Tennyson was full of anticipation.
He had no idea what kind of unique and precious gift Jared would present to him.
“Come with me...” Jared beckoned to Tennyson.
The latter was about to take a step forward, but he quickly retreated. He no longer dared to step into the territory of Allardland.
