“Jared, tell me honestly—did you do something to my father? He's acting really strange today. In Twilight Imperial City, my father's word is absolute. Yet today, he's following your every command and treating you so well!”
As they stepped out of the main hall, Fraser looked at Jared in confusion.
“I think it's strange too. Father dotes on me, but he's never let me sit on the Dragon Throne. Yet today, you actually sat on it!”
Catalina also gazed at Jared with suspicion.
Jared chuckled. “Maybe my irresistible charm won him over?”
“Stop spouting nonsense.” Catalina rolled her eyes at him.
“How would I know? If you want answers, ask your father yourselves. I'd guess it's just a case of him extending his love to me because of you.”
Of course, Jared couldn't tell them that their father was now under his command.
“That's possible. Father does love Catalina the most.” Fraser nodded thoughtfully.
“I was scared to death just now. Judging from what Fraser said, I thought Father was going to cripple you. I don't want to be with a cripple!” Catalina shivered at the thought of how things had started.
“Relax, I'm always lucky.” Jared grinned.
“Jared, where are you planning to go next? Why don't you stay at my place with Orion and the others for now?” Fraser asked.
“I'm going home, of course,” Jared replied.
“Home?” Fraser was puzzled.
“Obviously. I'm Catalina's man now. Her mansion is my home, isn't it?”
Jared casually wrapped an arm around Catalina's shoulders.
