Worship The Ground You Walk On novel Chapter 49

In the afternoon, as soon as Ben left, the housekeeper found the document on the desk of the study. She thought she could send it to Ben.

Claudia didn't want to be here, but she was concerned that Ben might need the document today. Moreover, she needed an opportunity to talk about the auction of the old house of the Evans family. Maybe he could help her to redeem the house.

That was her reason to come to the company.

The secretary downstairs sent her in, and Nate wasn't in his office. So she walked over directly.

The door of the office was unlocked; there was a crack. Just when she was about to knock on the door, she heard a woman's voice coming from inside.

That voice sounded familiar.

“I love you! I still love you! That bothers me a lot. Ben, you're married now. I'm so ashamed that I still have feelings for you. Shame on me to try to stay in your arms for a little longer.”

...

Hanna's words stung Claudia's ear. Her mind was in a mess, too. The document, along with her purse in her hand, dropped to the ground and made a noise.

The noise was not so loud, but it was particularly abrupt in the empty corridor.

Ben immediately heard the sound from outside, his eyes lit up. Then he walked fast to the door and asked, “Who's there?”

He thought it must be his secretary or Nate, but when he pushed the door open, he saw Claudia.

In an instant, they were all stunned.

Claudia was about to bend to pick up document and her purse. When the door was opened, the tall and strong figure stood right in front of him. She didn't need to look at him to know that the cold eyes on his handsome face were pointing at her like lasers.

Hanna was standing anxiously behind him. She looked so embarrassed and couldn't stop recalling those words she said just now. She's getting more and more worried about this. Her cheeks had turned rosy because of shyness. She seemed very helpless.

Claudia stood there in a daze, as if her blood had solidified, and joints rusted. She looked so embarrassed and panic.

She was more nervous when she saw the reaction of the two, and what Ben did next.

He was still standing there, giving her the indifferent look. He stared at her closely and asked coldly, “What are you doing here?”

That was ridiculous.

Claudia found this was the most absurd thing she had encountered.

She was his wife! They had made vows! She was his legitimate spouse! As her husband, he was obliged to give his wife an explanation on the conversation coming out of the office just now.

But the first thing he thought of was just cold questioning. He even looked a bit impatient.

Claudia took a deep breath. Then she bent down and picked up the documents and her purse on the ground.

Just by then, Hanna walked over hurriedly and said, “Claudia, it's not how you think it is...”

She was gentle as ever. As she walked up to Claudia, she held her hands intimately and added, “I just lost my mind. It was all my fault. I've never had any intention to ruin your family and your marriage. It was my fault. Claudia, please don't take this the wrong way!”

The more Hanna explained, the deeper Ben frowned his brows. At last, his eyebrows were like mountains with rising and falling.

“Enough!”

Finally, he could no longer hold it. He grabbed Hanna's hand and pulled her closer to him. Then he said coldly to Claudia, “Just go home if you don't need anything else.”

He was driving her away as if she was a superfluous person.

Claudia's heart trembled. It hurt so badly.
