Welcome To My Life novel Chapter 38

Isobel had no idea that Yasmin had talked to Freddie, so after she asked Yasmin to help her with the properties, she bought plane tickets for 10:20am the second day.

When they got back to the apartment, Amanda wanted to say something, but stopped on second thought.

Isobel sat down on the couch, and poured herself a cup of water, then she took out the plane ticket, "Mom, I already bought the tickets, tomorrow morning 10:20."

"Isobel, do you really want to leave? I thought you liked that Hamish boy?"

When she heard that, Isobel paused, then she leaned back into the couch, and suddenly laughed, "But you are right, he is a big person, except for getting money from him, there is nothing for me to do. Or should I hope to be able to marry him one day?"

These were the words Amanda had told her when she asked her for money back then, and now that Amanda heard her own words, she felt awkward about it, "Isobel, that's not what I meant, you are such a great kid, why..."

Isobel tilted her head and looked at her, "Mom, dad already died, all I have is you now, or do you want to leave me too?"

"I, that's not what I meant, I just..." When she was more clear headed, she felt the guilt rise in her, and Amanda slapped herself, "All my fault, it's all my fault! If it wasn't for me, you would have been able to stand straight in front of him."

Isobel was startled, and when she caught herself, she took her hands and covered her eyes, "In the beginning, all he wanted was for me to be his mistress."

Even though she was naive, it was all gone now.

She didn't want to talk about the past, "Mom, you should rest, I will sleep here tonight, you can sleep upstairs."

"No, it's fine, you should sleep in the bed, I am old, I don't bother about these things anymore, I will sleep on the couch."

"No, go to bed."

Isobel was insisting, and Amanda couldn't convince her.

If it wasn't for the gambling, Amanda was really a good mother.

But there weren't so many "ifs", all she wanted was for life to have a new beginning after tomorrow.

Isobel got up to turn off the lights, then she laid down on the couch and closed her eyes.

But this night, she didn't have a good sleep, she had a lot of dreams, in which Hamish was grabbing her by the neck, trying to kill her; then there was Martha, who held her down to the ground and slapped her over and over on the face; and lastly there was Gabriel, who took off all of his pretentious acting, and all that was left was mockery and disdain, he used his cane to point at her shoulder, and pushed her hard, "Isobel, not everyone can enter the gates of the Francis family."

"Let go of me..."

She woke up in shock, and noticed that it was just a dream.

Isobel raised her hand and wiped her face, the sky was already bright outside.

Amanda came down the stairs, and when she saw that Isobel was up, she was a little cramped, "Oh Isobel, did I wake you up?"

Isobel shook her head, and took her phone, it was already 7am.

"It's almost 8, I will get ready, we can have some breakfast, and then leave for the airport."

Amanda nodded her head, "Okay."

Isobel looked at Amanda and pressed her lips together, then she said, "Mom, after leaving this place, we will have a better life, I will do everything to earn enough money for us."

When she heard that, Amanda's eyes were burning, "Yeah, I know my little Isobel is the best."

She hadn't slept the whole night, she was remembering every single detail of the past five years, that was not a life, and Amanda was regretting it all.

If it wasn't for her, Isobel might never feel not being worthy of Hamish.

She always wanted her little girl to live like a princess, but never thought that she pushed her down the cliff with her own hands.

Isobel got up and went to pack her things, Amanda wiped her tears away, and went to the bathroom to wash up.

Isobel didn't have a lot of things to pack, even a little suitcase of 20 inches wasn't filled up.

She took a few clothes, some cosmetics, everything else she left behind.
