The CEO's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 32

It had been a while since Roman had been in a club. Between working, revenge, his father and Evelyn, there wasn't any time left over for anything else.

There were queues outside the club when he got out of the taxi but he ignored them to walk to the front.

And he ignored Phillip's grin when he met him at the door. That man had been doing that a lot lately and it was getting on his nerves.

"Good evening, sir," one of the doormen said as they opened the door for him.

He nodded and walked in. It took a moment to adjust to the light and loud music. This place looked like a typical club - grinding bodies on the dancefloor and along the walls. Fuck knew what debauchery was hidden in the dim lighting. And Evelyn was somewhere in that crowd doing whatever the hell she wanted.

Phillip followed behind him and pointed to a set of stairs. He noticed the balcony above, which seemed less crowded and would probably be a VIP area. He'd have a better vantage point there.

The VIP lounge was nicer than he expected. Comfortable looking sofas were set around tables, and groups or individuals occupied them. It seemed a lot quieter and discreet here.

"You didn't have to come in," he said to Phillip as he walked over to the balcony.

"Just doing my job, sir," the man answered, and he still had that stupid grin. "I'll get you a drink and then remain unobtrusive as always."

This was why he should have run on Thursday night instead of making her sign another contract. Phillip was enjoying this. Evelyn had him making stupid, out of character decisions. This was just as bad as following her to her boyfriend's apartment.

As he looked over at the people on the dancefloor, he remembered the dress she had been wearing. How many pairs of those dirty hands would be groping her?

It didn't take long to find that answer. One. Just one filthy bastard had his hands on her, and she was enjoying it. The pimply boy held Evelyn from behind as they swayed to the obnoxious music and he couldn't see where his hands were. But Evelyn had a fucking smile on her face.

Was this how she behaved with him? Had he been right all along about the nature of their relationship? How could he trust her again after this?

"Shall I get her for you?"

He hadn't realised how tightly he'd been gripping the railing until Phillip spoke. It was Brendan's neck he wanted to squeeze but that would bring attention he didn't need.

"Yes," he said through his teeth.

Phillip's grin widened and he could have punched it off his face. Instead, he grabbed the glass in his hand and drank it in one go. Probably a bad idea. He'd already had enough of those at the party.

"I'd taken the liberty of booking a room for you so you can talk in private," Phillip said.

"You didn't even know I was coming," he pointed out.

It felt like Phillip was trying not to laugh when he pointed at a door beside the bar.

"There's a hostess there. Just tell her you're with the Smith party."

  "Smith?"

"I can change the booking to Ashfield if you want, but I thought you'd appreciate the anonymity."

He frowned as he walked away from his nosy employee and headed to the door he'd been directed to. The hostess smiled as she led him through, and the moment the door closed the loud music from the main club was cut off.

The room he was led to also had dim lighting and had music playing from speakers. The setup was similar to the lounge but more intimate. The sofas were close together and the windows had a view of the river.

"Shall I bring you a drink while you wait for the rest of the party?" the hostess asked.

  "No. Thank you."

It was only when he was alone that he wondered why he was even going along with Phillip's plan. He should have just dragged her out of there as he had intended. Taken her home and punished her. She'd ruined his whole night, something he had been looking forward to for a long time. This was not the place for that conversation.

But then again, he would not have been able to wait until they drove back to her house.

The door opened again and the same hostess led a clearly intoxicated Evelyn in on Phillip's arm. The hostess' smile had lost some of its shine as if she had made her judgements already on what was going on.

"Shall I bring you something to drink?"

  "No," he said again.

When he spoke, Evelyn turned to the sound of his voice as if she had only just realised he was in the room. From the corner of his eye, he saw Phillip shepherd the hostess out of the room, but his attention was on Evelyn's face.

She was angry. For what reason? He wasn't the one who'd had someone's hands all over him.

"What are you doing here?" she snapped.

"I could ask you the same question. Why did you follow me, Evelyn?"

"I didn't follow you! That was a coincidence, but I'm so glad I got to see it with my own eyes," Evelyn said.

Her voice was slightly slurred and her eyes blazing as she walked towards him.

"Right. It was just a coincidence," he sneered. "Was it a coincidence that you were with him? That he was touching you?"

He sounded jealous. Fuck. He turned away from her to go and stand by the windows. He shouldn't have come. He should have gone home to think things through first.

  "Who?"

"I'm not playing this game! You should have read the rules," he growled, turning back to face her. "You shouldn't have been out with him at all."

"I can go out with whoever I want," Evelyn snapped, and then she turned away from him to walk towards the door.

Her 'fuck me' dress skimmed all her sinful curves. The hem just touched the top of her thighs and her long, gorgeous legs were fully on display. But it was the back that felled him. There was nothing there! That little pimply kid had been rubbing up on her naked skin.

Without thinking, he rushed forward and pushed the door closed as she started to open it.

  "What are you_"

"You cost me a lot tonight, and you're not leaving until you make up for it. Tell your little boyfriend to go home."

Evelyn turned to face him. The anger was still there, but so was that look he had seen outside the Cartwright residence.

"Excuse me? You've just been out in public with another woman but you want my friend to go home? Fuck off, Roman," Evelyn snarled.

There was hardly any space between them. He could feel the heat from her body already messing with his head. Or it was the alcohol. He wasn't sure now but there was no way in hell that she was leaving with that boy.

"You keep speaking as if you have a choice," he growled.

"I do have a choice! I'm done with you, Roman Ashfield. Go back to the woman you think is worthy of you and leave me the fuck alone."

The only thing that registered was that she was walking away again.

"You will never be done, Evelyn. Not tonight. Not this week. Probably not this year," he said as he finally closed the small gap between them.

He heard the satisfying sound of her hitched breath as his fingers trailed the side of her body down to her bare thighs.

"I own you, Evelyn Bright, whether you like it or not."

  "You don't own me!"

But the very next moment a loud moan left her lips when he cupped her between her legs. Her head fell back against the door and she closed her eyes. Just like that. The way she responded to him was like a drug, he always wanted more. Needed more.

"Let's agree to disagree," he whispered as he pushed the flimsy material aside and eased a finger into her wet core.

He knew he couldn't do anything here; there had to be rules against that. And he was still very angry with her so he shouldn't even want to. But the way she gripped his finger with her greedy little body...

Maybe it was time to enforce the new rules. After. After he had a little taste.

He groaned as he brought his lips down to her briefly before he lowered himself to his knees.
