Chapter 563 Staring Into Her Soul

The moment Stephanie saw Jacob, she tightened her grip on Seamus' hand as anxiety filled her eyes.

In fact, she even timidly hid behind the boy despite how the boy's head only reached her thigh.

Meanwhile, Jacob was furious to see Stephanie avoiding him as if he was the plague.

However, he could not lose his temper in front of so many people, so he could only glare at his son.

Seamus grinned at his father before turning around to hug Stephanie's leg to assert dominance.

At that very moment, Jacob felt the urge to toss the boy into the lake.

Alas, he could only simmer in his gloominess when he saw Stephanie's aversion toward him.

For a long while, he fixed his burning gaze on her as if he was staring straight into her bare soul.

Stephanie averted her gaze, not daring to meet Jacob's intense stare. She could only talk to Avery to ease the tension she felt.

The two women were beautiful, and even though they were both pregnant, they were still gorgeous.

Avery and Stephanie were beautiful in different ways.

Avery was fair and beautiful even without the use of makeup. Her skin was ivory white, and it was radiating under the sunlight. The gaze in her eyes was a calm one. The most outstanding part about her beauty was her smile. When she smiled, her bright eyes would turn into crescents. Anyone who looked at her would find themselves in a better mood.

Stephanie, who also went without makeup, was as beautiful as Avery too. However, even though she looked younger, there was an unerasable sorrow on her face clearly formed during her childhood. Those who saw her would want to dote on her.

When Cayden saw Avery return, he stood up and wrapped his arm around her waist. Turning to the men, he then said, “Enjoy yourselves. I'm going for a walk with her.”

Rory, who was in sportswear, held on tightly to Avery and whined at Cayden, “Daddy, I want to go with you and Mommy!”

Cayden hunched over and patted his daughter's head lovingly. “Be good, all right? Your mommy and I will be back in a while. You can stay here with the misters, or you can play with your brother and Seamus, but you can't go anywhere too far or dangerous.”

Kendrick then reached out to Rory and said with a smile, “My pretty little niece, come here. Let's not disturb your parents from going on a date.”

Rory pouted. Even though she wanted to go with her parents, she obediently let go of her mother and reluctantly ran to Kendrick when she heard her uncle saying that her parents were going on a date.

“What a good girl you are. Come, let me lift you up. Oh my, my little princess is even prettier now!” Kendrick cooed as he twirled in circles with her.

The girl still had a baby's powdery smell on her, and she was squishy. Kendrick could not help but think about how he wished to have a daughter as adorable as Rory in the future.

Rory giggled and cupped his face before giving him a kiss. “You too, Uncle Kendrick! You're even more handsome now. In fact, you're going to be as handsome as my daddy!”

Kendrick beamed. His niece was so good at complimenting him.

He then lifted her high up in the air and began making funny faces at her. She chortled merrily and refused to be let back down on the ground.

At the sight of his daughter's joyous smile, Cayden started leading Avery away. Right then, Seamus popped up.

He pointed at Kendrick and grumbled, “Put Rory down. I'll be upset if you carry her like this.”

Kendrick gave Seamus a baffled look. “What's up with you, boy? Why are you upset that I'm carrying my niece?”

“Rory's going to be my wife in the future. Daddy said that my wife is mine, so I'm the only one who can hold her. No one else can do the same. So, you can't carry her!”

The crowd was momentarily at a loss for words.

Then, a rare smile crawled onto Xander's face as he gave Jacob a long look.

Meanwhile, Jacob did not know whether he should burst into tears or drop his jaw, for that was what he told Seamus when Seamus kept taking up Stephanie's time.

He never thought that the boy would memorize what he said that clearly.

In contrast, Kendrick was barely keeping the amusement he felt off his face. As he jabbed a finger at the young boy, he started laughing. “Young boy, you haven't even hit puberty yet, but you're already thinking of getting a wife? Are you trying to make me die from laughing? Also, you've got to ask Mr. Cayden whether or not he'll give you his blessings to marry Rory!”

Kendrick then reached out to Rory and said with a smile, “My pretty little niece, come here. Let's not disturb your parents from going on a date.”

He then turned his gaze to Cayden, knowing that his protective brother would certainly not let his daughter marry anyone.

Seamus huffed before running over to Cayden and softly asked, “Mr. Cayden, can I please marry Rory?”
