The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen) novel Chapter 1466

Lysander had been in a tense session of treatment, and Zephyr had been fixated on every move Dr. Funke made. By the end, sweat beaded on Zephyr's brow, a testament to his concern.

The moment the last of the silver needles were plucked from Lysander's head, Zephyr's tension ebbed away. Coming back to the moment, he replied to Dr. Funke, "Don't worry, we'll make sure he drinks it."

"Given that the patient's in a coma, administering the meds might be tricky, but it's crucial that you find a way to get him to take them. The treatment won't work otherwise. I've used the needles to open up his meridians. The medication needs to flow through these channels to stimulate blood flow and reduce stasis," Dr. Funke reminded them again, concerned that they might take shortcuts, and the medicine might not reach Lysander's stomach.

Dr. Funke shared his medical philosophy, compelling Zephyr to take the task seriously. "We'll make sure he takes it. You needn't worry, Dr. Funke," Zephyr assured.

His eyes, cloudy with worry, swept meaningfully over Thalassa, who lowered her lashes in a faint flush of embarrassment.

Though Zephyr didn’t say it aloud, Thalassa knew what his look implied. For years, she had been the one to feed Lysander.

Since Lysander couldn't chew or even swallow properly on his own, she had resorted to mouth-to-mouth feeding.

This was no secret at the Royal Estates; it was common knowledge, and Zephyr's probing gaze confirmed that he knew about her methods.

After Dr. Funke prescribed the medicine, Zephyr took the prescription, saying, "I'll go fill this."

"I'll come with you," Thalassa offered quickly, trailing behind him.

Zephyr didn’t refuse, and as they reached the grand entrance of the Royal Estates, he abruptly stopped.

Thalassa, caught off-guard, nearly crashed into his back but managed to halt just in time.

Regaining her composure, she met Zephyr's piercing, judgmental stare.

"Claiming to be his wife already, even though Lysander hasn’t woken up?"

A heavy feeling sank in Thalassa's heart; she knew Zephyr wouldn't let the issue slide so easily. The scorn and mockery in his eyes were palpable.

Taking a deep breath, Thalassa replied evenly, "I've never told anyone that I'm Lysander's wife. I only said that he's the father of my child. Dr. Funke misunderstood, and I couldn't correct him. After all, who but a family member would go to such lengths to arrange treatment for him?"

Zephyr's gaze did not soften. Instead, it grew more serious. "What did you offer Dr. Funke to coax him out to treat Lysander?"

Dr. Funke was notoriously reclusive and not easily persuaded to treat anyone.

What could Thalassa possibly possess that could sway Dr. Funke to take on Lysander's case, a feat more enticing than a fortune of two billion?

Under Zephyr's skeptical and harsh gaze, Thalassa did not hide the truth. "I promised to find him an apprentice and to set him up on a dating site."

"Those conditions... they wouldn't happen to involve you, would they?" Zephyr's voice sharpened, his eyes flashing with anger and contempt.

To Zephyr, Thalassa had always seemed like the kind of woman who played all her cards to achieve her ends, unscrupulous and willing to sacrifice her dignity. Otherwise, how could she have ensnared Leopold to the point of losing his life?

And then there was Lysander, who had been injured trying to save her, now lying in a coma for three long years.
