The Babysitter
Chapter 9: Could I like her?
Chapter 9: (Xavier's POV)- Could I Like Her?
"Why the hell would you think I'm jealous? I'm nowhere near jealous," she spoke as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"Your body language and words suggest otherwise, Carthy," I spoke tauntingly.
"I'm not jealous, Parker. It's just annoying. Like geez, I get it, you're close." She shrugged casually. She was damn good at hiding her feelings, I had to give it to her. "What?" She raised an eyebrow at me when I just stared at her without uttering any words.
I looked her straight in the eyes before stating the obvious. "You're jealous." I nodded before beginning to walk away and up to my room.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night," she humorlessly laughed while sitting down on the couch.
I was expecting her to follow me up to my room, I don't know why it bothered me that she didn't. So I went back down, picked her up placing one arm under her legs and one under her waist, carrying her up the stairs.
"Parker! Put me down!" she demanded while falling limp in my arms.
"Falling limp doesn't make you heavier. It's still a piece of cake for me to carry you up," I told her as I opened my door with my back and set her down on the bed.
"Why do I have to be up here? You were fine up here by yourself yesterday," she whined.
"Fair enough. But now I don't have anything to do so you're getting bored with me." I grinned at her innocently.
"What did you do yesterday by yourself?" She raised her eyebrows at me.
"I ate hot Cheetos and then napped for a little bit." I shrugged while answering her question.
"So take a nap again, let me be!" she whined while cracking her knuckles, all at once. She did what people do in movies before they punch someone. Didn't know people could actually do that.
