Sweet Divorce novel Chapter 48

A man wearing a pair of glasses walked when Liam’s mind drifted.

“Sorry, I’m late.” He said with a smile, “I was caught up in a traffic jam.”

“You finally came!” Jacob started to complain to the man about Liam’s “atrocity” like a pupil who just got bullied.

Edison took a glance over Liam after Jacob told him the whole story. His eyebrows wrinkled. “Liam, you’re becoming somebody else. You aren’t the Liam I used to know anymore.”

Liam was no longer a man who acted resolutely.

Instead, he now appeared to be rather pusillanimous.

Liam said nothing but took another shot.

“Liam… is this admission?” gazing at Liam, Jacob’s eyes were wide in shock.

Still, Liam said nothing but kept drinking.

Damn!

He admitted!

“Holy shit… Liam’s in love with Rita.” He loved her, loved, not liked.

They’re totally two different notions.

Liam’s cold eyes met Jacob when he was still in shock of Liam’s change. “What are you saying?”

Damn, I said it out? Jacob thought.

He couldn’t take it back now anyway.

There’s nothing he could do to retrieve the situation. In for a penny, in for a pound. He decided. “I said, you are in love with Rita.”

“Are you trying to get yourself killed?” Liam’s eyes were instantly filled with ice.

Jacob straightened his back in terror, nervous.

Damn!

The way Liam looked at him was like a butcher was watching at a sheep. He’s horrified.

“I’ll give you a chance. Think before speak.” Liam’s voice rang again.

Jacob had cold feet and hid behind Edison.

He took Edison as a protection and became bold.

“You wouldn’t have taught Sophia a lesson if you are not in love with Rita.”

“No matter what,” Liam said, his face dark. “Rita is officially my wife, the whole city knows it. It would be a slap in my face if I let anyone hurt her under my eyes. So you tell me, did I have to stand out.”

It made sense at first hearing.

But after a few moments, Jacob found Liam’s explanation incredulous. “Liam, that’s lame explanation.”

He paused and straightened up. “No, it’s more than just lame, it’s extremely lame.”

Liam tightened his grip on his glass so violently as if he was going to smash it. “Come here and talk to my face if you got balls.”

Looking at the glass, Jacob had a chill.

He believed that he would be smashed into piece before the glass if he said another word.

There’s no way he would talk to Liam face to face.

He clutched Edison’s coat tightly. “I’m not going1”

“What did you said?”

With only a few words, Liam scared Jacob. Jacob hurriedly hid his head behind Edisonto keep it away from exposure to Liam’s vision. “Edison, protect me. Liam’s so mean, I’m so afraid.”

Liam reached his hand to grab Jacob out but was stopped by Edison.
