Chapter 17 

Genevieve gave him a contemptuous look and turned away to walk past him. 

“How did I fall for Anthony? I must be out of my mind!‘ she scolded herself inwardly. 

Jasper waited by the car. When he saw her coming, he quickly opened the back door. “Ma’am…” 

Genevieve took a look at his face and saw bruises and bloodstains at the corners of his mouth. Then, she bent 

down into the car. 

On the car, Genevieve hesitated and said, “Jasper, take a day off tomorrow and go to the hospital for a check–up. I’ll pay for it.” 

Jasper smiled and changed the way he addressed Genevieve privately. ‘Ms. Lawrence, don’t worry about me. I know what to do. A cold compress will help, and the swelling will subside tomorrow. I was careless. Mr. Lawrence. warned me not to let Mr. Hoffman approach you before. I’ll pay more attention in the future.” 

Genevieve smiled and felt relieved after hearing what he said. 

However, public opinion on the Internet was uproar again when she woke up.

Eagle Entertainment’s shares kept plummeting, and Genevieve’s phone was occupied by plenty of calls. 

Jasper finally got through to her. He said on the phone, “Ms. Lawrence, I’m right downstairs from your house. Reporters blocked Mr. Shelton at the door of his house. In a rage, he was then sent to the hospital because of heart disease. The company is in a mess now.” 

Genevieve frowned and answered, “Got it. I’ll be right there.”

She quickly changed her clothes and went downstairs with her bag. 

Jasper’s complexion was unpleasant, and he spoke in the car. “There had never been such intense public opinion against Eagle Entertainment, and Mr. Shelton was hit hard this time. People in the industry were watching. If we can’t handle it well, the whole industry may be affected. We’ll become the target of public criticism, and they will rub salt into the wound. I have contacted all the media platforms to delete the post, but now the topic’s popularity is rising sharply, so it’s not so effective.” 

Genevieve pursed her lips. “What did Leonardo say?” 

“They are more anxious and have no way to defend themselves. Leonardo has been scolded to close the comment section, and now they want to clarify it through our side,” replied Jasper. He paused shortly and continued, “By the way, I’ve found out who exposed the photos.” 

Genevieve pursed her lips, and her eyes narrowed slightly. “Is it Rosalie?” 

nodded. “She put a phone in the private room yesterday in advance and took the photos secretly.” 

Genevieve looked up in surprise. “Wasn’t it someone who had taken the photos for her?” 

After all, there were many people present that day. 

Jasper smiled, took a spare phone from his pocket, and handed it to Genevieve. He reported honestly, “Ms. Lawrence, I had to be careful because it was the first time for you to show up to socialize yesterday.” 

Genevieve was a little surprised. She took it over and watched the 20–minute video. Then, she immediately understood the situation. 

She smiled at Jasper and gave him a thumbs up. “Jasper, you’re a talent!” 

Jasper blushed and touched his head embarrassedly. “But it’s hard to tell others about it. After all, it’s not a good thing to take a video secretly.” 

Genevieve laughed. “I’ll find a way out.” 

Jasper suddenly remembered something and immediately said, “By the way, Hoffman Group is also behind this 

public opinion. 

As soon as he finished his words, Genevieve’s phone rang. 

The numbers were familiar to her. 

It was Anthony. 

Genevieve did not answer the phone and hung up directly.

She picked the call up and heard Anthony’s hoarse voice. He said, “Genevieve, don’t rush to react on the Internet. I’ll 

solve it.” 

Genevieve’s face darkened, and she sneered. ‘Is it interesting to pin the blame on someone else?” 

Anthony was silent for two seconds. “My mom asked someone to do it, not me,” he explained. 

He cleared the matter out and wanted her to know his attitude. 

Genevieve chuckled and hung up the call directly. 

‘Is there a difference whether it was him or his mom who did it?‘ she thought in disdain. 

Brendan looked at Anthony’s gloomy face and could not help but complain, “Tony, you will get me into trouble. 

What if Genevieve does not answer my phone calls in the future?” 

Anthony glanced at him coldly and threw the phone back to him. 

The fact that Genevieve would answer Brendan’s call had already made him angry! 

The comment section of Eagle Entertainment was almost overwhelmed by online public opinions. 

However, Genevieve did not expose the video on hand in a hurry. 

She needed a chance of victory in sight to defeat those who thought they were on the moral high ground, and that

Therefore, even though the company’s phone was about to be overwhelmed by calls, the headquarters of Eagle Entertainment remained indifferent as if nothing had happened. 

At noon, Selene asked Genevieve to have lunch with her. 

They arrived at the restaurant where they used to go. 

“I went to the Lawrence mansion to find you. Mr. Lawrence and Mrs. Lawrence said that you lived outside, so I came to your company,” said Selene. 

“Aren’t they worried?” asked Genevieve. 

Selene smiled and said, “They are confident in their daughter’s ability. They said nothing but ask me to take you to eat something good.” 

Genevieve breathed a sigh of relief, and the two entered hand in hand. Not many people were in the restaurant, so

Selene ordered the food somewhat impolitely. While waiting for the food, they heard a child’s voice at the door. 

They turned to look in that direction and saw Rosalie and Quincey walk in. They were pushing a baby stroller where Samson, who looked like Anthony, was sitting. 

They were like a mother–in–law and daughter–in–law with a good relationship traveling together. 

Selene immediately recognized them and cursed in a low voice, “Damn, what bad luck. I lost my appetite for a good meal.” 

Genevieve withdrew her gaze and raised her eyebrows nonchalantly. “Then pretend you didn’t see it.” 

As soon as she finished her words, Rosalie saw Genevieve sitting there. She held Quincey’s arm and said piteously, “Mrs. Hoffman, isn’t that Ms. Lawrence? What a coincidence! I didn’t expect Ms. Lawrence to eat here, too! Ms. Lawrence is now the director of Eagle Entertainment. She was the one who asked me to be a girl bar.” 

When Quincey saw Genevieve, her face darkened as if she had seen trash. “You took my son’s money to eat in such a high–end restaurant and ruined the reputation of the Hoffman family online. How shameless!” she cursed. 

Genevieve was momentarily stunned, and Selene could not help but stand up. “You old shrew, who took your son’s money? Your son cheated and supported a mistress and an illegitimate child. He ruined the family’s reputation himself. How dare you still blame Genevieve?” Selene suddenly broke the silence in the restaurant. 

Quincey’s face turned pale in anger. As a noblewoman, she was used to being pampered by others, so she naturally would not admit defeat easily. 

She retorted, “It’s because she is useless and has no ability to win her husband’s heart. She threatened us by means, which was disgraceful. She married for three years but failed to give birth to a child. How dare she show up? At least Rosalle had given birth to the first grandson of the Hoffman family!”
