Say You Will Be Mine
Chapter 25 Love Begets Hate
As time went by, Samuel tried to adapt to life without Matilda.
In the dead of night, though, there was always an immense panic that engulfed him and made him wish he were dead.
But he knew he couldn't die.
Matilda had left him two children, and he was determined to raise them until they grew up.
He smiled bitterly in his heart. ‘Matilda, you have even set this step. How could I not live according to your heart?’
He endured it for three months. One day, Samuel took his son Sidney Wilson to the hospital for physical examination.
Sidney was happy. He opened his arms to a doctor he often saw, completely without the characteristic of a premature child.
The doctor took over Sidney and thought in mind that though Samuel experienced the pain of losing his wife, he still had taken care of his children. It was admirable.
He smiled at Samuel and motioned for the nurse to give him the report.
“You have taken good care of Sidney. There is no big problem in terms of health. It is just a congenital deficiency that you need to pay more attention to in daily life.”
At this time, the doctor noticed Rebecca standing silently with Samuel and took a sigh. He took out a milk sugar to her to from his pocket.
His daughter, at the same age as Rebecca, had given it to him when he left home in the morning.
Samuel nodded, and Rebecca took it and whispered “thank you”.
The doctor touched Rebecca’s head and said, “Rebecca, play with the nurse for a while, ok? I have something to talk with your dad.”
