Chapter 11: king Alger

As the car came to a halt  past memories resurfaced.

Those giggles and laughs

Those multiple rides on my fathers back

Those warm cuddles and loving kisses my parents showered over me.

Overwhelmed with past memories I placed my first step back in the place where my life started.

A warm hand engulfed my cold ones.

I looked up to see Xavier passing me a smile of assurance.

"Don't worry my dad may seem cold at first but he is good at heart,

Just  be yourself..okay?"

I nodded

As we entered the ceremony hall  at the centre stood the chair which belonged to the king.

The same chair on which I used to sit with the crown of my barbie princess on my head and imagine my self as the real princess.

The same chair on which my Dad used to sit with me on his lap .

Now the chair was still the same with it's beatifull  gold plated back with an intricate design and blood red cushioned seat but the person sitting on it was not the same.

King Alger Knight was seated there with one leg placed over the other,papers in one hand and a red vine glass in another.

As we entered his eyes left the papers and landed on his son.

A genuine smile came on his lips and he placed the papers on a side table .

He engulfed his son in a tight hug and they stood like this only for a minute.

No words were spoken but I realised then only the amount of love father and son had for each another.

I stood behind them awkwardly.

They seperated and the next words Xavier spoke made Alger acknowledge my presence.

"Dad , she is my mate !"

"Ezra"

As my name escaped his lips king Alger's smile faded away.

The way he looked at me was enough to piss anybody's pants.

Long gone was the love he had in his eyes

They now held hate and disgust.

The scar on his face was more clear now, it looked like a sword slash during a brutal fight.

And I knew better which fight it was.

The scar added up to the scary look on his face making me fear his presence.

He approached me like a lion advances towards his prey.
