Please Let Me Go novel Chapter 48

Amidst Adelaide's shyness and Hanna's confusion, the four of them finally spent the dinner in laughter. Antonio and Adelaide returned to the room. Antonio grabbed her hand, forced her to the corner and did not give her a chance to speak. His big palm caught the back of her head, and his lips quickly covered her warm soft lips. Adelaide at first patted Antonio's back, and gradually hugged him tightly. “Adelaide, from now on, if you want to practice, just come to me!” Then the hard thing beneath him pressed between them. She knew exactly what it was. His breath was all messy. Adelaide wanted to explain that she had made a slip of the tongue, but before she could speak, the man shook her off and said, “Remember my words.” And then he left in haste. Adelaide froze and leaned against the wall until the biting cold froze her and she shivered. She slowly returned to her senses. Although she didn't know why Antonio suddenly left, she was sure that person was thinking of something bad. Did he think she was a frivolous woman? Adelaide once again shivered and had a sleepless night. Antonio went to the study. The feeling of swelling below made him uncomfortable. When he almost couldn't hold it, he remembered his brother, who was killed by this vicious woman. He clenched his fist and smashed it hard on the white wall. He returned to the room, took a cold shower, and his mind cleared a bit. His hatred for Adelaide grew even deeper. In the next day, he came to the company and was preoccupied with business matters. He did not go home for several days in a row, and did not go to Clarissa. Adelaide knew she had hurt him with her words. She had made a few calls but he did not answer any of it. And she had gone to the company, but she was not allowed to come it and was told Antonio was not in the company. Adelaide did not want to tell her girlfriends about her family affairs and sulked every day. But seeing her expression, Hanna knew that the dinner that night did not improve their relationship, so she asked Jerry out again. But Jerry told her that he had to go abroad to deal with some urgent matters and he couldn't help Adelaide this time! Hanna was upset about it, but she could only wish him safe on the way. She chose to take Adelaide to go shopping. Since Jerry left, she had no one to discuss how to help the two get back together, and her relationship with Antonio was poor, so she stopped helping but accompanied Adelaide. Today she had something else to deal with, Hanna sent Adelaide home and left in a hurry. Adelaide returned home with a big bag of clothes and a smile on her face. Damla was cooking in the kitchen. She hadn't seen Antonio for several days and asked tentatively, “Damla, is Antonio back?” Damla said yes. If it was not that Antonio was home, Damla would not be active in cooking. Usually Damla only cooked after Adelaide told her to! After shaking off the messy thoughts in her head, Adelaide went upstairs to her room to put down her clothes. Thinking of Antonio, she walked to the study. She was about to knock the door, but she stopped. She was worried that Antonio did not want to see her. When she was ready to leave, she heard Antonio’s voice inside. She vaguely heard him talking about the competitive relationship between the Swift Group and the Baron Group. Since Adelaide's father died, the Swift Group was far worse than before, and the reputation had plummeted. If not she had married to Antonio, the Swift Group would had disappeared. She could not really hear it, so Adelaide lied on the door to listen carefully. From Antonio’s words, she finally understood why Antonio was cold to her. He said he was afraid Adelaide would take the Baton Group’s shares. Tears blurred her eyes. She had been liked this man for years, but he suspected her without evidence and was afraid that she would take his. She wrapped her arms around herself and hid in the doorway, shivering. Antonio did not know that Adelaide was eavesdropping. His cold voice from the study like a sword stabbed into Adelaide's bones. “I gotta go. I'll talk to you later, I'll take a call.” Not knowing who he was talking to on the phone, Adelaide continued to press her ear to the door, and found he was talking to Clarissa over the phone now. She heard that Antonio laughed softly and said, “Ok, I will be there soon.” At that, Adelaide wiped away her tears and returned to her room. Her room was near to the study. When Antonio passed by, she showed up in the front of him and feigned a smile, “Antonio, going out?” Antonio said coldly, “Yes, what's wrong?” Adelaide's nose turned sour at the thought of him going to see Clarissa. She asked, “Where are you going?” “I went to see Clarissa. She said her stomach wasn't feeling well.” Antonio squinted at her and found she was in daze. He said with a frown, “I'm leaving!” Adelaide returned to her senses, ran to the man and said, “Antonio, I also do not feel well.” “If you don't feel well, go to your room and rest.” Knowing that she was deliberately blocking him from seeing Clarissa, he was annoyed. Her eyes darkened again. She expected Antonio would carry her back to her room and stay by her side, but the man let her down.
