Emma’s refusal to respond made Trevor extremely furious.

Her temper has gotten quite fierce after the divorce. I can’t believe that she dares to ignore me now. Does she not even have the most basic courtesy? The rage that he finally managed to suppress with great effort erupted again. If not for the injury on her arm, he would have kicked her out of the car there and then.

The two of them arrived at the hospital under such an unpleasant atmosphere. Trevor led Emma to Kaleb without further ado.

Kaleb Walsh was Trevor’s friend, as well as a famous surgeon.

When Kaleb saw Emma, he immediately exclaimed in surprise. “Emma?”

Like Zachary, he knew about Trevor and Emina’s past. That was why he was so shocked to see the divorced couple appearing in his office at the same time.

Emma got straight to the point. “Hello, Dr. Walsh. Please help to check whether my injury is okay. I was scalded by hot coffee.”

After Kaleb gave Emma the prescription, Emma stood up to leave and pick up her prescribed medication. Throughout the entire process, she completely ignored Trevor standing nearby.

Nevertheless, she had only taken the first step before she paused in her tracks. She seemed to consider something briefly, then she took out a 100-dollar bill from her purse.

Walking over to Trevor, she stuffed the money into his shirt pocket and said, “Mr. Bateson, thank you for bringing me to the hospital. This is to pay for the fare. You can keep the change.”

She turned around to leave after saying that, ignoring Kaleb’s gaping mouth that fell open from shock and Trevor’s pitch-black expression. Knowing that he would never accept her money, she decided to force the 100-dollar bill on him instcad. She did not wish to owe him anything in the slightest.

Kaleb stared at the interaction between those two with a dazed expression, feeling like he was stuck in a dream. It had been a year since he last saw Emma. He felt as though she had become a completely different person in that period. She was so cold and distant that he no longer knew her.
