My Ex-husband Begs Me Back (Ayan and Camille) novel Chapter 1427

Chapter 1427 Contradiction

Camille actually knew Grace quite well. She was someone who would speak up about anything, so it was impossible to overlook the excessive obviousness of her reactions at this moment.

Ayan pulled her into his arms directly in response to Grace's concerns. His voice carried a faint smile as he said, "She has someone who cares for her. Nothing will happen. You, as her sister, are worried, but you have a tight grip on Horace, so there's no need to worry about her being mistreated or anything."

Camille knew this as well, so naturally, she wasn't worried.

However, when it came to the Armstrong family matter, Camille was still worried about Grace's psychological issues. Normally, it would take a long time for someone to grow, but Grace seemed to have grown overnight. The speed of her growth was truly remarkable, so fast that Camille couldn't help but worry about the possible impact on her psyche.

Camille pursed her lips slightly, her voice becoming somewhat uneasy. "Are you getting closer to Horace? There are things that you men might be better at discussing. Although my relationship with her is improving, there are certain things I feel I'm not suitable to talk about. So, could you talk to Horace for me and make sure she spends more time with her? We can't let her experience any depression."

Camille's only concern was this because a person's mental illness is invisible to outsiders, and only the individual themselves can bear the unimaginable pain.

Ayan made a soft sound of acknowledgment. He said, "I know."

Camille also spoke softly, "Then, Mr. Simpson, please take care of it."

Ayan snorted lightly and said indifferently, "You only bother being polite when you need something from me."

Camille retorted, "Do I? Am I not usually like this?"

He said, "You're usually quite cold towards me."

"Is that so? Are you accusing me?"

"Isn't it true? I have evidence. Do you want to see it?"

He asked with confidence, looking as if he had evidence. It made people ponder and doubt themselves.

Camille also pursed her lips slightly and carefully considered, then asked in a low voice, "What evidence do you have?"

"Do you want to see it?" he asked calmly, then began to negotiate conditions. He said, "If I present the evidence, you have to promise me something."

"What is it?"

"I haven't thought of it yet. I'll tell you when I do, alright?"

"That won't do. What if the condition you mention is something I can't fulfill?" Camille said calmly, feeling a bit flustered inside. This man always had the upper hand, and she was no match for him. Naturally, she didn't want to agree to his vague requests and conditions without clarification.

Camille's guard made him laugh, and he said, "Are you so afraid of me?"

Camille refused to admit it and simply said, "I'm not afraid of you. I just don't want to promise something I can't fulfill. I value integrity, and I won't agree to things I can't do."

In reality, she simply didn't want to agree to his vague conditions. Camille understood Ayan well, so she was cautious and vigilant at every turn.

But while she understood him, he understood her as well.

Together, they had 180 tricks up their sleeves.

He smiled lightly and said, "I told you, it won't be something you can't do. I just haven't figured out what I want from you yet. But I promise, I won't make any outrageous demands, alright?"

"Really?"

"Of course, it's true."

"Well, then I don't want to either," Camille refused to relent, but added, "Honestly, do you not want to help me? If that's the case, just say it directly. I won't make it difficult for you."

Camille's unexpected move caught Ayan off guard.

He looked at her helplessly and said, "Now you're turning against me too?"

"Isn't it all thanks to Mr. Simpson's teachings? Being around you, one inevitably learns a thing or two," Camille smirked cunningly. Her smile seemed to carry a hint of fox-like calculation, causing Ayan's gaze to fixate on her without blinking. His eyes gradually grew deeper, and Camille, caught off guard by his sudden intensity, raised her hand to cover his eyes, preventing him from continuing to stare. She asked, "What are you doing?"

Ayan raised his hand and held Camille's hand that was blocking his eyes. He softly murmured, "So domineering? Now I'm not allowed to look either?"

Camille pursed her lips and remained silent. She then leaned against his chest, her whole being finding solace in his embrace. She asked earnestly, "Am I really cold to you normally?"

She began to reflect on herself and considered the need for change if she had truly been that way. After all, in a marriage, mutual adjustments are necessary for improvement.

Ayan maintained his usual demeanor without any additional change in expression. His voice remained normal as he said, "A little."

"Well, if such a situation arises in the future, promise me that you'll let me know, okay?"

"Okay."

He gently embraced her and responded with an unusually deep voice.

Since Ayan had expressed his feelings, their relationship was no longer distant but increasingly affectionate. Even in their current separated state, it didn't hinder their emotional connection.

Camille, especially, sincerely believed that their relationship had improved after their separation. It was a state of equal emotional footing, a kind of attachment that made her feel normal in a marital relationship.

Conflicts and disagreements are actually normal patterns of interaction between spouses, but they should be limited to minor disputes. If either party crosses a certain line, such a relationship likely won't last.

Just like the relationship between Brody and Page, although they appeared to be an exemplary couple to the outside world, only they knew the true state of their relationship.

The Armstrong family was already in a state of utter disarray, with one member permanently gone and the other currently under significant suspicion at the police station.

This matter had truly spread widely, and the entire Hance City, be it the upper-class circles or major forums, was discussing it.

However, thanks to Ayan's initial efforts to prevent the incident from spreading and being revealed, up until now, nobody knew the exact location and area of the incident.

Perhaps it was due to the fortunate timing and circumstances. After all, it was raining when the police and search teams were dispatched to search. The tourist area was practically deserted at the time, preventing the location from being known to anyone. This also helped preserve the scene from being tampered with. Although it rained, there was no guarantee that some evidence that could be useful was not left behind.

The next morning, just as Ayan had finished a morning meeting and returned to his office, before he could even sit down, Kian's phone began to ring.
