Living With My Lady Boss by Blue Silver novel Chapter 14

“Mister Gills, isn’t that a bit too much? I’m not going to say anything, and I’ll remove myself from this project altogether,” Chloe protested.

Telford smirked. “This is your punishment. You can just quit if you don’t want to do it.”

Anger flared up in Chloe’s chest. She had done nothing wrong. Why was she being treated like this?

“Keep in mind that once you quit, you can forget about rejoining the industry in Seechertown, or anywhere in Kardon

Province.”

“Sir, I’ve promised not to say a word. What more do you want?

“That’s not f*cking enough!” Telford shouted. “You wouldn’t even be alive right now if I hadn’t spoken up for you!”

Chloe exploded at last, all her indignance and fury spilling out.

She slammed her permit onto the table, shouting, “I quit, then! So what if I’ll be blacklisted in the industry, I’m more than fine working as a pizza delivery driver! I’ll survive anyway!!

She stormed out of Telford’s office with tears in her eyes, driving home right after.

Telford’s expression was ashen. “The f*cking nerve of this girl. I’ll see how long that lasts! You’ll come crying to me one day!”

A while later, he called for his secretary.

“Get Mariah in here.”

“Yes, Mister Gills.”

“Also, mention in Chlor’s resignation papers that she was fired due to severe misconduct.”

“Got it, Mister Gills.

The secretary left, and Telford smirked to himself.

He knew that Chloe loved journalism and would never let it go.

But with such a remark on her record and Telford’s connections, it was pretty much impossible for her to work in journalism

at all anymore.

She would eventually have no choice but to beg him for help, and he was going to teach her a good lesson on just what it took to do the job.

Not long after, a curvy middle–aged lady walked into the office. She leaned over the table and asked in a husky voice, “Mister Gills, what’s the matter?”

Telford looked down at the two mounds squished against his desk and let out a chuckle. “There’s a news report that you’ve been a**igned to follow up on. It’s about the Seechertown freeway Incident. All the material’s here. You just have to get it out in time by tonight.”

“How do you want it?”

“Make the girl look good and keep the buzz surrounding the situation.”

“Got it, sir. You haven’t given me an a**ignment in ages. Have you forgotten about me?”

“Of course not! There just hasn’t been much news lately, as you know.”

“What about my promotion to a**istant station director, Mister Gills? You promised me that half a year ago.

“I’ll make sure you get that promotion the second this is done. You’ll get it for sure.”

“Thank you, Mister Gills. Say, that old geezer of mine is out on a business trip tonight. Wanna come over for a drink?

“Sure. I’ll be there, you little fox.” Telford reached around his desk, grabbing a handful

2/2

Mariah let out a high–pitched whine. Telford said, “Now get to work 1 need that report by tonight.”

“You got it, Mister Gills.”

Mariah swayed out of Telford’s office on her heels, her expression darkening the second her back was turned, “F*cking pervert. I know you were trying to get with Chloe but weren’t able to. I’d never touch you with a ten–foot pole if it wasn’t for my promotion. Urgh.”

At night, over in Wilbur’s room on Sealake Island

Wilbur, Faye, Faron, and Elsa sat on the couch, all of them solemn.

Faye said, “There’s something terribly off about this. The Seechertown Television Broadcast Station’s report is completely one -sided. It’s blatantly unfair.”

“Unfair? This is a straight–up attack on Cape, dude,” Faron said.

Wilbur frowned. “I’m pretty sure Sherry Divos isn’t powerful enough to pull off something like this.”

“Of course not. Someone’s behind this for sure,” Faye said.

Wilbur asked, “Who would that be?”
