Her Second Marriage, Being Mr. Moore's New Wife novel Chapter 660

“20 minutes?” Kennedy said with dissatisfaction, Alice had to explain, “I pass by the supermarket and want to buy something. Since you have to be at my door, can’t you wait?”

“Which supermarket? I'll pick you up.”

“No!” Alice refused his request, flurried.

If he picked her up, he would find out the truth. Alice took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.

“You don't need to pick me up. I'll just buy something and I will be back soon. If you get tired of waiting, you can go back to your house and I'll meet you later.”

After the words out, there was a long silence, finally he agreed.

“Ok.”

After hanging up the phone, Alice was relieved and covered her chest, feeling that her heart was beating very fast.

If she lied too much, she would feel guilty in the future, right?

But Alice could not tell the truth with Kennedy. If she had said she was at the hospital, he would have come straight away, and if he found out she had come to see Manfred, things would have been more complicated.

Though she knew she should not have come to see Manfred, she could not have been so cruel.

So Alice told herself, after making sure Manfred was ok from the doctor, she would go back immediately.

“Miss Nelson, is there business at this time?” Tim could not help asking her.

Hearing that, Alice looked at him, “No, it is my family, why?”

“Nothing, I thought you have not finished your work yet, and I am sorry to let you come.” Tim smiled and then added, “By the way, do you have a boyfriend?”

Alice, “... it is a strange question, isn't it?”

“Eh?”

“You know nothing about Mr. Manfred yet, but you asked me this question, do you think it is appropriate?”

Alice looked at him sharply, Tim smiled awkwardly, while stretching his hand to wipe the cold sweat on his forehead, “Haha, I...... I am just looking for topics. If you mind, I won't ask anything. I'm really sorry.”

Alice finally took back her vision, looking at the ward in the front.

Silence around seemed to be awkward. Tim looked at Alice’s cold side face, but dare not speak.

He could only wait until the doctor came out.

“Who is the family?”

Alice stood still. Tim waited for a while and had to go forward.

“Hello doctor, I am a friend of the patient, his family is not here, you can tell us his situation.”

“The patient has acute gastroenteritis and is now fine. If he is ok in the evening, he can be discharged. He should pay more attention to his diet.”

“Yes, yes, thank you, doctor. I'll let him know.”

After the doctor walked away, Tim stepped into the ward, took a few steps but found Alice did not move, he could not help looking back to Alice.

“Miss Nelson, won't you go in?”

Alice smiled slightly, “since he is ok, I gotta go.”

“Well......”

“Take good care of Mr. Manfred, I am leaving.”

After that, Alice did not give Tim opportunity to react but directly turned to leave.

Alice left the hospital and took a taxi home. Then she pulled out her phone.

Fifteen minutes had passed since she had spoken to Kennedy, and it would take at least another fifteen minutes to get back.

Well, she really ought to have said more time, but too much would have made Kennedy suspicious, and there wouldn't have been enough time to get back.

Alice pulled back her vision and looked at the driver.

“Please hurry up, Sir. I'm in a hurry.”

The driver was dissatisfied, “You young people only know to be fast and do not care about safety. It is the rush hour, it can’t be fast.”

“I'm sorry, I know it's difficult, but I'd like you to hurry up, please.” Alice said toward the driver, the driver looked at her, and then withdraw his vision, “I will try to be faster, but if there is traffic jam, I can’t guarantee that.”

She was in a hurry to get back, but she was caught in a traffic jam. It was rush hour.

The road was blocked, Alice looked anxious, watching the time passed second by second. She did not know to how to explain to Kennedy.

“Sir, how long will this traffic jam last?”

“It's hard to say. The traffic jam at this point is very serious. Sometimes it can last for half an hour, sometimes for an hour. But we're not too far behind, and we can move along slowly.”

She could not catch up.

Alice looked at the phone and sent a message to Kennedy.

{I can’t go back on time, will you wait for me? }

No sooner had the message been sent than the phone call came.

Alice had a headache seeing that, but she had to answer the phone.

“Where are you? Why don't you come back?”

Kennedy’s voice was low, and he sounded like waiting unhappily.

Alice bit her lower lip, closing her eyes, “I have- traffic jam...”

“Aren't you in the supermarket downstairs? Why there is traffic jam?”

Alice froze and did not know how to answer him.

The two sides were silent for a moment. Kennedy seemed to be aware of something and asked quietly, “Where are you? Name your position and I'll come and get you.”

“... There's a traffic jam. It's useless for you to pick me up. Your car won't come.”

Kennedy took a deep breath, “You know how to annoy me, Alice.”

“Don't be angry, or shall I get off now? Shall I walk back?”

While saying, Alice had been ready to get off, but heard that Kennedy rebuked her, “There are so many cars, how do you walk? Go back and stay there.”

Then she paused again, feeling aggrieved. “What should I do then?”

“What can you do?” Kennedy was helpless, “I will wait for you at the door of the community.”

Hearing that, Alice felt uncomfortable, biting her lower lip, she did not know what to say. After hanging up the phone, her heart was more stuffy.

She lied to him and he did not know anything.
