Finding Love in the Boss’s Embrace After Divorce novel Chapter 14

Chapter 14 Let the Bunny Go Home

“So what? You don’t dare to tell your mother the truth, right?” Jerry sneered.

“Maybe. But let’s wait until the day we divorce. You’ll know if I dare.” Evelyn’s voice exuded determination. She chose not to disclose the truth of Jerry cheating on her to her family only to spare them unnecessary worry and pain.

Jerry’s frustration was evident as he slammed his hand on the table. “Evelyn, I’ll tell you again. You can’t get a divorce!”

“It’s not up to you,” she retorted, unwilling to engage in a lengthy argument. “Where are you now? Let’s meet and talk.”

“Fine. Meet me home!”

Evelyn promptly ended the call, no longer wanting to interact with him. She changed into comfortable clothes, grabbed her bag, and headed out.

As she opened the bedroom door, she bumped into Huston, who was walking in her direction.

Noticing her change of attire, Huston questioned in an unfriendly tone, “Where are you going?”

“My mother has an urgent matter to discuss with me, so she wants me to go to her immediately.” Evelyn didn’t want to tell the truth, fearing that Huston would subject her to further torment if he knew she was meeting Jerry.

further inquiries. He simply stated, “You haven’t fully recovered from your fever.”

“I’m ok. It’s urgent, I need to be there right away.” Evelyn’s anxiety was palpable. After all, Jerry would be shameless enough to make up any crap to tell her mother if Evelyn arrived late. He might even go directly to her parents.

“I want you back home before eight tonight.”

Evelyn answered mindlessly, “Got it. I’m leaving.”

Huston observed as she hurriedly descended the stairs, taking them two at a time. She swiftly put on her shoes at the door and left without a moment’s pause.

Turning around, Huston entered the bedroom and gazed at the empty space, feeling as though he had just released a bunny back to its burrow.

As Evelyn hailed a taxi to Hill Villa, her mind was consumed by thoughts of Jerry spewing nonsense to her mother. She didn’t have much time to dwell on it. Upon seeing the man arrogantly seated on the sofa, her anger flared up.

“Jerry, what’s the point of doing this?” Evelyn stood defiantly in the living room, her eyes fixed on him, radiating fury.

Jerry lazily lifted his eyelids to look at her. Evelyn had always been an obedient wife, but now, as she glared at him, Jerry sensed something different, as if he had never truly known her.

Would you ever come back home il I didn’t call your mother? How dare you hide from me!”

Evelyn wanted to retort with, “Who do you think you are?” But she thought better of it, not wanting to engage in further arguments.

“Don’t get my parents involved again. Or I’ll make sure people in your company know about your cheating ass.”

“Don’t you dare!” Jerry abruptly rose from the sofa, taking a few swift steps toward Evelyn. His threatening presence enveloped her in an instant.
