Chapter 22 

Mikayla used to go shopping and buy things, but it had never been as crazy as today. 

Could she be under some kind of stress? 

Mikayla smiled and asked, “Do I look like there’s something wrong?” 

Celeste nodded. “Very wrong.” 

Mikayla patted Celeste on the shoulder. “Relax, I’m fine. I know what I’m doing.” 

Finally reaching the men’s section, Mikayla was already laden with purchases. 

Celeste began to pick out ties and clothing seriously. “Kay, do you want to pick something for Jerome too?” 

Mikayla refused. “No, he doesn’t deserve it.” 

Celeste felt speechless. 

And she said she was fine? 

“You dirtied the formal wear! When renting, it was made very clear that there couldn’t be any stains!” 

At that moment, a loud reprimand echoed from the men’s formal wear shop from across 

them. 

Mikayla glanced over and saw a handsome, slender young man apologizing to the store 

clerk. 

“I’m truly sorry. There was a mishap at the event. Can you send it for dry cleaning? I’ll 

cover the expenses.” 

“Dry cleaning won’t do! Our suites are designed by top–notch designers with expensive materials. Washing them would downgrade them to second–rate! You must buy it!” 

The young man looked embarrassed. “Can we negotiate? I’ll pay extra for the cleaning.” 

“No.” 

“I’ll buy it. How much?” Mikayla intervened, approaching them. 

Both the store clerk and the young man were taken aback. The store clerk noticed Mikayla’s shopping bags and immediately put on a fawning smile. 

Chapter 22 

“Madam, this is the latest autumn collection, priced at 288,000 dollars.” 

Mikayla handed the black card to him. “No PIN needed.” 

The store clerk was thrilled and quickly took it to process the transaction. 

The handsome man looked at Mikayla, grateful and somewhat unsure. “Thank you. I’ll clean the stained part later.” 

The store clerk then presented the card and the neatly packaged clothes. Mikayla handed the clothes to the man, saying, “Take it.” 

“Give me your address and phone number, and I’ll deliver it to you after I clean it.” 

Mikayla chuckled, “No need. Keep it after cleaning.” 

“How can that be?” The man quickly waved his hand. “I didn’t earn this. I simply can’t accept it!” 

“It’s just a set of clothes. Even if you don’t wear it, I can’t be wearing it either. I can’t just throw it away and waste it.” 

After talking for a while and seeing that the man was still hesitant, Mikayla smiled and said, “Okay, let’s make a deal. When I need your help in the future, you have to make things convenient for me.” 

Mikayla’s expression was very serious and determined.

“Nearly 300,000 dollars worth of clothes, and you’re giving them to a stranger like this? “Celeste approached, expressing her admiration. “You’re really kind–hearted.” 

Of course, Mikayla wasn’t kind–hearted to that extent. She knew this man. He would stand out in a singing competition in the future. 

In the previous life, after Ansoft Enterprise went public, they hired him as the spokesperson.

He had a masculine yet adorable appearance and demeanor, bringing considerable traffic. to Ansoft Enterprise. 

Today, she was cutting him loose as a pre–investment. Moreover, she was using Jerome’s money. Why not take advantage of it?

Celeste picked out a few casual outfits and an elegant pen of an understated brand for her husband. “He’s attending an international conference next month, and these will come 

in handy.” 

“Now that you’re here, why not treat yourself to a few outfits?” Mikayla suggested. 

Celeste shook her head. “I don’t need to, I have plenty of clothes in my wardrobe. Besides, I don’t have time to dress up for work.” 

Mikayla cut to the chase, “Are you afraid your mother–in–law will say you’re not making money and spending recklessly?” 

Celeste, a nurse with a modest income, had hastily married a handsome and wealthy doctor from a top–tier hospital. 

Her in–laws were dissatisfied with her background and often subjected her to various provocations. 

Celeste sighed lightly. “Sometimes I feel constrained myself, but when I see my husband’s face, I feel that everything is worth it!” 

They were truly best friends, both admirers of aesthetics, passionately dedicating themselves to the men they loved. 

Thinking about Celeste’s ending with her husband, Mikayla couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sympathy.

At the Miller Group, Mike looked at the constant stream of purchase notifications on hist business phone, feeling slightly anxious. 

If this were to continue, the card might max out. 

He was well aware of who was using this card. 

While Jerome had given Mikayla a card before, she had never used it even once. Why was she suddenly using it so much today? 

After careful consideration, Mike decided to knock on Jerome’s office door. 

“What is it?” 

Jerome’s unfriendly tone sent shivers down Mike’s spine.
