Laurel walked towards Shelley and Nellie who were in a fight.
Nathan, on the contrary, chose to be an onlooker.

Nathan never took her side from the beginning to the end. He simply watched as her being beaten. She stomped her foot. “Nathan, Shelley has no feelings for you at all. She is about to marry Paul! You’re just a backup for her for years. Do you really think she’ll fall for you in the end? Haven’t you been deceived enough by her back then?”
